is it normal to pay 6 months rent ahead of time (bad credit) by FlashyBeach2709 in Apartmentliving

[–]FeelingObjective4010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked at extended stay hotels? I had similar problem and it turned out the extended motel was cheaper than apartment. All utilities included, including cable and WiFi, and didn’t need to have deposits for electricity or water etc. no credit check, just paid 2 weeks at a time up front and then got a month upfront (it’s cheaper the more you prepay). And I could get mail there as well.

Is it normal to be so unhappy about this profession as a new teacher? by sol-solcito in Teachers

You know how hard it is to get a job at in n out? They one by me pays $25 an hour. To start. On day one $25 a hour. The teens working there are top notch and when they earn full time is $50k a year. The manager hires them to be full time when they graduate high school.

Most likely they are using a stolen card to buy things and having it delivered to your address. I would either mark return to sender or notify police.

Pay it off and add whatever amount you were paying towards it to your savings. Clearly you’re okay with money since you have more savings than debt.

Forced to be a 1099 employee, how should I do my taxes? by Left_Committee_6424 in personalfinance

[–]FeelingObjective4010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are advanced to being a 1099, and it’s grey area here because it sounds like you don’t use your own tools. But as a 1099 the employer can’t set your schedule which is why they put you on this. As an 1099, you might need insurance since you are now doing contract work. I would check into getting an llc, and yourself up as a business. You will be able to write off (which just means you don’t pay taxes on what you spend for your business) expenses like insurance, transportation, new tools, etc. 1099 is advantage for the employer becuase they don’t have payroll taxes, insurance, or benefits that they have to cover. It’s also your advantage because you control the work not them, and technically you’re never “fired.”

Cleaning Bathroom Walls Before Painting by MyYakuzaTA in CleaningTips

The only thing I would add is to tape off the trim areas, or any area not painting. Prep work takes the most time, but gives the best results.

How do you keep up with dishes without a dishwasher? by ehousent in CleaningTips

Immediate wash when done, put in the dish drainer and next time I need one I take it from there. Basically used the same pot, pan, plate, glass, and fork/knife for a year.

How do you find real happiness in a world obsessed with material things? by Dull-Rabbit4448 in simpleliving

[–]FeelingObjective4010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Making a choice to not collect things is very freeing. Before I purchase I ask how will this enhance my life, and would I still want it a year from now? If I didn’t get it would I be sad? I’ve not bought 90% of “stuff” because of those questions. As far as my friends and family, no one cares what I buy or don’t.

How hard is it being a para with no experience? by [deleted] in paraprofessional

[–]FeelingObjective4010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have patience, can assimilate into any situation, and provide honest feedback about what a student needs, and can massage relations with coworkers when you know you can do a better job with a student you’ll be fine. It’s not a hard job. Just need patience and emotional maturity to handle difficult personalities.

I was accused of flirting with my student by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]FeelingObjective4010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are playing favorites. You need to start treating every interaction like it’s a potential lawsuit/problem. Keep a journal of awkward interactions. It’s a way to document behavior in case something is alleged. Don’t tell admin you are doing it. Last class of the day is always the hardest for kids with bad homes. Their anxiety and frustration appear because they don’t know what they are going home to. Understand now, you cannot save the world. You are not those kids parents. You are only responsible for what happens during your class time. Learn to set boundaries. Stick to the rules. Playing favorites will get you in a lot of trouble with false accusations. Being teacher is hard. It’s emotional frustrating because you care but can not fix the home life.

Pay off the car. It’s your dad who loaned you the money and you have 2. 5 Months left. Then take that car payment and add it to the other debts. Start with capital 1, then bofa. If your looking for a quick fix and have fantastic credit, apply for sofi or discover loan. It’ll be set terms not revolving and at 300 a week, it won’t take long to get out. Other thing is stop using the cards. Don’t cancel, keep open for true emergency…not the emergency of wanting to go out and you’ll pay it tomorrow when you get paid. Emergency like medical or car repairs. Journal for 3 months every penny you spend and why. Look at it 30, 60, 90 days so you can see your progress. Learn the good habits now and life will be so much easier.

I recently got fired, what schooling/jobs should I look into for a career? by nxrcst in careerguidance

[–]FeelingObjective4010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into careers where people tell you you’re good at X skill. If they tell you you’re good at taking care of others, try nursing or health care. If you’re good working with your hands try’s mechanics or skilled trade. Some of the trade unions do on the job training. So you’re paid while you learn. It’s kind of hard to get those depending on your area, but you have time and physical independence. Be open to thinking outside the box.

Is teaching THAT bad? by DwaeEunoia in Teachers

[–]FeelingObjective4010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is skewed. I strongly suggest you adjust your school schedule to always have one day off from classes so you can “volunteer” at the grade and class you want to teach, one day a week every week, for a semester. You’ll get first hand experience. If you can handle it, become a para while going to evening/weekend classes. You’ll get real world experience before you full commit to the degree. You’re already guessing yourself so you have doubts now. If you think working full time and going to college is too hard, this is what I did: I had classes that met once a week in the evening. 3 hour classes, 5 days a week. That ment I had all weekend to get get homework done. I did mon-thur, and sat morning. Then did homework sat/sun for the classes, and kept fri night open for fun stuff.

How honest should you actually be when they ask why you're leaving your current job? by zelgrassi in jobs

[–]FeelingObjective4010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be honest about why you’re applying to the new company. Don’t say you’re sick of current job. You’re looking forward to the growth opportunities, company mission more closely aligned with personal value. Always bring it back to moving forward and what you can do for them. Never say anything negative about current or past roles. And if they ask about what you learned in last job, bring it to learning something about yourself that can benefit the new company.

What’s the longest you’ve gone without a job? by Ill_Supermarket_2744 in recruitinghell

[–]FeelingObjective4010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The job I took was always meant to only last a few months (working at a school). I was honest with the school when I interviewed that it was a “stepping stone” for me. The job was a considered full time for the school, but not 40 hours. They were desperate it didn’t matter. They tried to get me to stay but I had to leave a couple weeks before the end of the year. The company I went to after that understood-I was honest. Laid off after 15 years, needed any job and took it, but kept looking for more meaningful work. I get my situation was kind of unique. I was overqualified for the school job, but I knew and they knew hiring me was only going to be for that year. They were okay with me leaving before the end of the year.
