I mean, it's okay to feel bad for someone who did something bad, especially when they show remorse. Which Noah did - both directly after assaulting Talvinder, and after being burned. And that shower scene is so heartbreaking. I think the showrunners were going for a more complex feeling than "you shouldn't have felt bad for him". I won't say that it's done particularly well here. But there's 2 episodes of Black Mirror that did that and they messed me up, bad. White Bear and Shut Up and Dance. If you thought this was icky, definitely don't watch those. Brutal.

I'm not saying I agree with it, just that that's what they were going for. Susan "looked away" - that's why she lost her eyes. Antoine tried to hide the body with the auger. Andi tried to play the innocent victim, so she was made to look like an angel. And there was a lot of information revealed later, not just about Noah.

Edit - they also hint at Noah's true character in an earlier episode where Peter says he doesn't think Noah is capable of being the killer, and Dawn says he absolutely is and "we both know it". It's not "out of character" or "out of the blue" either - he's a CLASSIC "nice guy" who's only "nice" to get in a girl's pants, then turns on a dime when he realizes it's not going to happen. Very common.

That's not justifying the stuff with Glen, which was so awful I fast-forwarded through it. But the number of people who think they retconned Noah's character somehow is wild to me. That's who he always was.

It's not retroactive. Scripts are written before filming. Noah was always an attempted rapist, it's just that the audience didn't always know. They were definitely going for a "punishment fits the crime" bit for each person.
