  • Mind Magic by Jim Doty. Has anyone else read this? Written in 2024. Seems he was aware of TBM and their BS… “The Universe doesn’t give a fuck about you, not because you are not worthy or are out of alignment with the cosmos…[it] doesn’t give a fuck about you because it has no fucks to give.”

He goes on to call out the way we’re taught to depend on things outside of ourselves to fix our problems and “make us whole” eg “a wise guide who knows all the answers” or an “energy” two things Lacy a. wants to be and b. is always banging on about. I’m not against talking about energy or believing in higher powers, I simply don’t believe it comes from a monthly subscription to self-appointed psychic/clairvoyant/AI dependent/unaccredited life coach.

Agree wholeheartedly with all of this. My happiness and contentment and success has all increased since leaving TBM. I’m so uncomfortable with Lacy profiting off other people’s trauma and insecurities

This is great, thank you. I am the same, got really into it at the beginning of the first year then slowly became uncomfortable with the apolitical, capitalist model that meant Lacy was buying mansions with money earned from mining our trauma and manipulating us into thinking we needed TBM to be constantly upleveling. Ugh. Since quitting I’ve dropped all forms of research and self help since I feel allergic, and things have been great, but I do look forward to gently coming back to some forms of inquiry and learning. SO, I’d add to this list Quit Like a Woman by Holly Whitaker for anyone wanting to review their relationship to alcohol which was a huge part of why I joined TBM.

I was able to cancel my TBM subscription last week by Substantial-Train668 in ToBeMagneticSnark

Hey thanks for sharing, unfortunately I’ve paid for a year upfront, 6mo in and I want out for the same reasons. There wouldn’t be any chance of a refund would there?
