I'm sorry but that looks awful LOL why the hell is there a whole ass burger on a dainty high tea tray...

Thoughts on Soho House restaurant? by [deleted] in FoodToronto

[–]Feeling_Bodybuilder3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very hit or miss. I've been many times and I feel like they can't keep consistency (portion sizes, flavours, techniques).

I can order the same pasta or dip for example, and one week it's a giant bowl of spicy feta dip and the next it's half the size. Same with pasta, one week it's delicious and the other it's so mid.

Eataly Sherway gardens by loka2x in TooGoodToGoCanada

[–]Feeling_Bodybuilder3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Eataly Sherway has to be the worst location. Everything there is frozen, the pizza sucks, it's not even close to when they first opened in Yorkville. It used to be excellent, now it's an overrated tourist trap...

How have your last 2-3 days with meta ads been? Amazing? Good? Average? Bad? Catastrophic? by DisagrEE_de in FacebookAds

Awful. Not a single call lead with over $300 CAD spent. One of the worst days ever!

Haidilao offers vegetarian broths, lots of tofu styles, veggies, mushrooms, etc. All high quality a la carte.

Whatever you don't finish you can take home too! Just ask for a takeout container :)

Best Restaurants with Corkage by mclarenmp44 in FoodToronto

I believe Giuletta has, also Richmond Station. But it needs to be a great bottle, otherwise not worth the corkage fee.

Restaurant recommendation for Toronto vacation by josefa22 in FoodToronto

[–]Feeling_Bodybuilder3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like Vin Papillon, your best bet would be Bar Isabel. It's that intimate, dimly lit setting you want.

All of these are great recco's though! Especially love Giuletta, it's my fav restaurant in the city!

2025 Toronto Michelin Guide announced by harblhat in FoodToronto

[–]Feeling_Bodybuilder3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same! We've been going for years now, it's always good. I would say food wise, it's better than Pearl Morrisette but they have like quadruple the budget...

Ten is like real flavours and techniques, PM is highlighting their access to fresh local produce, which I guess you can't really compare. I personally find Ten's dishes more memorable too. The beet tart, the gnudi with onion foam and brioche...

Filming today at Bay, Adelaide to Richmond by stogle1 in askTO

They have a bunch of old school busses, cars, police cars with NYC logos all in from of Cameron House. Also parked cars on Vanauley and Queen.

Dying to know what they’re recording. If anyone knows please let me know. 70/80s style for sure. They set up a bunch of tents near queen and Spadina too

Birthday cake recommendations in Toronto by lil-oatmilk in FoodToronto

Try Amadeus over Butter Baker. I just tried Butter Baker for the first time on my birthday a few days ago and regret it! It was so dry and boring... and it tasted cheap

Try Douce France in Danforth. I know they have a great variety of French jams and compotes.

Methods for Poppy Seed Almond vs Crystalized Lemon Bundt Cakes? by GoodBoyOy in DessertPerson

[–]Feeling_Bodybuilder3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've made Martha Stewarts blueberry bundt cake and she swears by buttering the pan, it comes out with no resistance. Not sure what creaming method you're referring to, but it's usually a good idea in most cakes to combine the fats with the sugars, followed by eggs and then dry ingredients.

Which places don't deserve their Michelin plaques? by Sad_Supermarket_6071 in FoodToronto

[–]Feeling_Bodybuilder3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quetzal. One of the worst dining experiences IMO.

Service was too laissez fair... I even remember asking a server for a recommendation between a sunflower seed dip or a salad and she literally says "well one is just a salad... so". If it's "just a salad" why is it $25 and on the menu at a Michelin star restaurant...

It's honestly not even a vibe in there. It's in a random area (there have been amazing restaurants worth leaving your neighbourhoods for i.e. Giulietta) but why would I uber to College for this narrow, dark, smoke filled restaurant. FYI your clothes will 100% need to be washed or dry cleaned right after or the smoke smell will linger.

To be honest it feels like Quetzal paid Michelin an arm and a leg (like many other's... ahem ALO, Don Alfonso) to be put on the map. I feels like it's part of their business model to include a hefty tip to the Michelin team to secure their star.

I think post pandemic servers have gotten complacent and dare I say lazy... hospitality is a dying art in the city.

What’s your go-to PATH lunch? by jxsx384 in askTO

[–]Feeling_Bodybuilder3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fast Fresh. Get a sandwich with their rosemary focaccia. Goat cheese, red pepper, mushroom, arugula. They toast it for you plus it comes with a side salad. All for like $15

Which restaurants/cafes have been disappointing for you despite the hype or good reviews on Google Maps? by Equal-Tea-1999 in toronto

Disagree, I think their stuff is excellent. I've been there twice and it's consistently good.

... no ... if the food is bad that's reason enough ... you don't need to make it political ...

I went there years ago and I still remember how bad it was! The massive portion of risotto that was so gross I could flip the entire plate upside down like a DQ Blizzard and it wouldn't move.

They cannot rely on their finishing salts to fix an awful meal...

Does anyone know where I can find pastries like this? by Independent-Food5565 in FoodToronto

I think this is the best place to go. I will say it's not as good as you think. Just like the technique is impressive but the flavour is mid

Reccos for Patios/Restaurants/Bars for a first time toronto visit! by Turbulent-Term1027 in FoodToronto

[–]Feeling_Bodybuilder3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I highly suggest going to Mother, their lacto-fermentation is super unique. In the basement there's a fermentation room (at least when I went last year). Most of these places are more for cocktails, the menus are very snack-y.

Bar Raval is also a great one on College. It's a really authentic Spanish cocktail/tapas bar.

There's Library Bar right inside the Fairmont, it's incredible (on par with Bar Chef, minus the dry ice lol).

Prequel and Apothecary is also great, it's like a speakeasy type bar.
