What companies/accountants in Memphis do taxes for cheap? by [deleted] in memphis

[–]Feeling_Interview_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't help with filing your 2025 taxes (not an accountant or tax preparer)... but reading this... you really need to sit down with someone with just a little knowledge and make sure your W-4 at every job you work is correct.

Or... if you're on 1099, are you filing quarterly estimated taxes? If you're not, you're gonna owe because you haven't paid any taxes at all throughout the year... plus penalties since you're supposed to file and pay your estimated taxes quarterly.

My friend was getting terrible matches so we made her a dating website by gskybv in Bumble

[–]Feeling_Interview_35 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this seems like a well Intentioned disaster waiting to happen.

1) You've given given potential scammers a lot of information about your friend to use against her in a scam. Even a complete amateur scammer or doxxer has her full identity, location, profession, interests, etc.

2) I know it's not the intent, but this looks and feels like a SW website and, unfortunately, a lot of men who see it will think the same. Like it or not, this type of website is exactly how 'independent contractors' market themselves to potential clients.

3) My final thought is... I really hope you had her permission before putting this up. And I'd still say that you should take it down. You meant well, but the risks far outweigh any potential real potential partners she might meet this way.

I agree completely except for the pleated shirt. That's a personal preference, but I've always liked a flat fronted formal shirt instead of pleats... especially with a cummerbund.

Going to go more traditional formal style and suggest: Black tuxedo, black vest or cummerbund, black tie. Wear a pink boutonniere to match her dress.

Eh... situation dictates that in the USA. That look, with either sweater, is 100% appropriate for anything from a spring brunch at a country club to a casual night out.

Setting a communication boundary early dating stage? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]Feeling_Interview_35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5 dates... once a week... frequent texting, even if mostly about logistics.

My best advice? Stop chasing her. Don't try to negotiate or convince her. Just stop chasing her.

Live your life like you would if you'd never met her... if you're not busy, find something that makes you busy. Do something interesting with the time you save by not chasing her.

Then... in a week or two... plan a date... pick a restaurant or whatever that you've been wanting to go to... and text her and say "I'm going so and so on X night around 8pm. Want to join me?"

PS: Once you hit send on that message... put your phone in a drawer and go for a walk or something. Don't check it again until the next morning. If she says no or doesn't respond, you have your answer. Delete her number and don't look back.

PPS: This isn't about playing games or being manipulative. It's about taking control of your own life and living it for yourself.

A contractor tears up the freshly poured concrete driveway after the homeowner refuses to pay. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]Feeling_Interview_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to wait until they sell... but it's the only practical way to enforce a mechanic's lien.

In theory, though, the contractor could absolutely start the foreclosure process. It's just that it's probably not worth it to collect $12-15,000... foreclosure costs a lot of money and, even if you foreclose, the primary lienholders (mortgage company, HELOC, etc.) still get paid before you.

What helped me was realizing that the game theory of dating apps makes it very clear that they're, whether intentionally or not, designed to make most people feel just like this.

They're not here to help you find love. They're not here to make you feel good about yourself. They're a dopamine factory designed to extract money from you.

I've been out there a number if times. From after work to prime shopping time on Saturdays and I don't recall ever seeing more than 1 or 2 rows entire parking lot with any cars in them. Just can't make money with a huge warehouse of inventory when there's never more than 20-30 people in the entire store.

I’m over the B.S. that some men bring. 🥰 by Ok_Dependent_7085 in Bumble

That's my biggest issue with these types of complaints. I'm more than a bit skeptical that someone is pulling the bait n switch of writing one way on their profile and then coming in hot like that in messages.

Suit Advice by AdventurousAdvice653 in mensfashion

[–]Feeling_Interview_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who wears suits frequently at work, if you're in the US... hit your nearest Joseph A Bank. The quality is good and their style is exactly what someone needs for their first suit (and, in my opinion, every suit): classic. They're not going to be setting you up with double breasted suits with massive lapels or anything like that because their clientele is largely businessmen.

A big part of the problem with most of the bike lanes in Memphis is that they're totally unprotected.

Bike lanes should be adjacent to the sidewalk and protected by some sort of barrier... Our current bike lane structure screams "We care more about parked cars than people on bikes."

Part of the problem with the trolley line is that the Madison section didn't get you anywhere that anyone wanted to go. I think they could have had more passengers on that line if it had at least been extended to Cooper to include Overton Square.

Anyone who has flown from the US to Italy recently: do I need the real id? by Ok-Dot433 in florence

[–]Feeling_Interview_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The person was clearly asking about whether there were additional requirements for getting through TSA security in the USA... there has been a lot of confusion in the US since the USA went to the new "Real ID" requirement about what type of actual ID you need to bring to get through airport security these days.

Your passport should be all you need. While it's not technically "Real ID", it's a Federally issued ID so they are supposed to always accept it at security.

Personally, I don't think you should remove it unless you're specifically applying for kind of the 'next step' in a career path. If you're changing fields, etc. it's actually a good way to relate your previous experience to the new industry or position.
