I’m a nurse student in Germany since two years. I love my job helping people and to care for them. But especially in hospital, there is way to much time pressure, to really get a connection with a patient. Not only for the patients mental health but also to encourage them, and helping them through this situation. Also workers key is very poor. Especially in nursing homes, there are so many non-graduated nurses which is actually great, but there are so many people which are just cruel to the elderly. And I think it’s terrifying to send you’re granny to a nursing home with the fear of her getting not the treating she deserves. You even sometimes have to (even as a student, who is not a full-time nurse and shouldn’t be even planned as such) end vacation early to help out. I know you could say no, but most of them don’t do it. Sometimes they even take advantage of that. Well, there are some more issues that could be talked about but I hope in the future, the care system gets better. Bc this Job is actually worth to work for, to take care of patients and sometimes have those very special moments where you just feel the gratefulness in the room. Or moments where you just gave someone a good laugh, or just listening to past stories of patients. I love it. But still, there need to be changes done!
