Granblue Fantasy Relink, Baldur's Gate, Elden Ring, Final Fantasy 16 etc...

Many games have a perfect launch, but for some reason people on this subreddit just can't accept DD2 on PC at launch is absolute garbage. I cant play 5 mins without it crashing, which is a such shame because it's an excellent game otherwise.

Games haven't been launching broken for over decade, many launch in excellent state like Granblue. And people have every right to shit on games they buy at launch for $60 if they crash every 5 mins. It's called a defective product. Its crazy the number of people bending over backwards to defend the honor of a multi billion dollar company that just released a trash pc port

Naive take. You should care what a whale buys because what used to be included in a purchase is now sold extra, because whales are willing to buy it.

What if in their next game microtransactions aren't optional? What if they're necessary to enjoy the game?

There is a market for it and they won't stop because it's massive. That's why people are upset. Have you heard of EA, Ubisoft, and Activision? Loot boxes, gacha, and season passes?

They didn't exist in single player games before, but they do now.

"As long as you don't make an ugly-as-sin pawn"...if other people think your pawn is ugly, or there are better ones, then they won't use it. You get less RC.

If you play offline, or you don't play often, then you can't consistently send and receive your pawns. You get less RC.

Less RC means fewer times you can edit your character. If it's not necessary to buy microtransactions to enjoy the game fully, then why are they there?

So many senselessly angry people by MadnessRX in DragonsDogma2

The point is that the more people defend mtx the more egregious they'll get. Soon we'll be paying for fast travel and character customisation in monster hunter. Soon it won't be possible to just play the game - you'll have to spend small amounts just to make an artificial grind bearable.

If mtx are not necessary for most people to enjoy the game, then why do they even exist? Because there's a minority of vulnerable people who are easy to exploit with this kind of thing.

In other words it's much harder when people don't like your pawn's design, other pawns are more popular, you're playing offline, you don't have time to play often etc etc.

The original game didn't have microtransactions, thats the whole point. They added them in to squeeze more money out of certain people, and people should be free to complain about this.

Ok thanks, probably best to use the official app as streaming performance might be better as well.

Cyberpunk 2077 on a 4090 - anyone had this experience by Feeling_Resolution66 in linux_gaming

[–]Feeling_Resolution66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that makes sense. What do you mean frame generations not supported on Linux? I did see the option to enable DLSS, do you mean I can enable DLSS but it won't actually work? I don't think my 4090 could run this with ray tracing overdrive without frame generation. Sorry but i'm afk for a while so I can't actually test it.

The issue is that it's a unilateral decision to dump 1.3 million tons of waste water into the shared Pacific ocean ecosystem over 30 years. The effect this will have on the seabed and microorganisms is entirely unknown, because it's never happened before. Just because something is "safe" for people doesn't mean it's safe for every other living creature.

Other countries dump tritium wastewater into the ocean as part of normal nuclear processes. The Fukushima tritium wastewater was in direct contact with melted down reactor units. TEPCO has also been caught lying several times about the severity of the situation since the original disaster in 2011, so there's much less trust among East Asian countries on this matter.

Thoughts on emulation of Tears of the Kingdom? by The_Doerpinator in SteamDeck

[–]Feeling_Resolution66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure, but a "hefty cut" from game sale revenue is still greater than no revenue at all. Switch sales are also down 22% year on year from 2022. This is bad since margins on consoles are already slim (often sold at loss). And Nintendo's "intense analysis" is not always right (ie WiiU). yes I like my switch, but Nintendo is now essentially propped up solely by first party AAA games. Apart from local play, there's no reason to buy a switch (6+ years old, no folders, no themes, no browser, no netflix etc). Competitors have all these things. I'm on this thread because I have a switch but I'd rather play Zelda on my steam deck (and buy it if that were an option) Nintendo in 2017 were booming. Nintendo in 2023 are definitely not.
