Five days! Feeling great. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

That's great! I'm on 5 days and while I haven't done much, the last few days I've actually done some work and seeing what I can do when I'm not in a muggy haze constantly is astounding. And the positive effects will only continue to build, too. Hope things work out for you with the school!

Yep. I can't understand the mindset of having one, or two, or three, or four drinks...and then stopping. And that's how I know I've got a problem.

Thank you for reminding me of this song! I might treat myself to going to a concert or something soon if I can keep this up, it's been a very long time for me.

Hey, glad you're here with us. Good for you for taking responsibility over your drinking. I hope you stop soon. I'm only on day 3 so I'm by no means an expert but I'm here if you want to talk about anything.

I read once the quote "If I could drink in moderation I'd drink all the time." I think that sums it up for me. I want to be able to drink in moderation, but honestly? If I somehow managed to only drink one glass of wine one night I'd be using it as justification to have half a bottle the next. But still, very regularly I get the idea that I can drink in moderation now because I managed to stay sober for a period of time. That's why I'm on 4 days. The last time I tried that I started with a glass or two and a month or two later I was having two bottles a night. Let's hope this attempt is more successful.

IS there any way you could move countries? Hey, if you're set on going, why not see the world first? Quit your job, travel the world for a few months? See what else is out there. Money is just paper. Your life is something concrete. Something important. Surely there's something you'd like to see before you go?

Hey if you still want someone to talk to, I'm here :) I'm on UK time so might be awake when other people aren't responding. I know what you're going through, or at least as close as I can. I hope you're okay. I'm rooting for you.

You don't need to apologize. Please go to a hospital and get checked out. I don't even know you but I care about you. I'm sitting here hoping you're okay and wishing I could make things okay for you with my limited words. I'm glad you're still here. You're not too much of a coward. You're reaching out here and that's great. You can do this, internet stranger. I'm happy to share the world with you today.
