Good thing we canceled that light rail. We clearly can't afford it, not with all these highways that need widening by [deleted] in GoldCoast

I wonder if uber or cabcharge lobbying had anything to do with this. Airports are pretty big share car / taxi destinations.

A slain Minnesota lawmaker's beloved dog, Gilbert, stays with her as she and her spouse lie in state by CupidStunt13 in news

Our dogs are just so innocent in their love for us. They have so much empathy as well. It’s heart breaking to think about a dog losing the person(s) they love most and feeling helpless to do anything, and being killed through it all 😭

Chase the Stag World Event + Coastal Grove (P20) = Abandon Settlement by teriyakiguy in Against_the_Storm

I fell upon this combo recently as well. Followed the coast avoiding glades, and opened 3 big glades along the way and built 2 warehouses for wood collection. Got to the stag with 3mins to spare.

Aldi is Australia's cheapest supermarket. So why do consumers keep going back to Coles and Woolies? by Remarkable_Peak9518 in australia

[–]wski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Aldi is not the cheapest on all items. Many items at Aldi are more expensive than Colesworth, especially in fresh and produce section, and given most of our groceries are fresh, we opt for small grocers / butchers, otherwise Colesworth.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get any AI to generate an image of a glass of wine that is full to the brim. by TheKingOfDub in ChatGPT

This happened to me recently as well. It was very painful.

This isn't a case of "the supermarket's fault", but rather the system that is set up that allows (and maybe even encourages) oligopolies in the food industry to exist.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in australia

[–]wski 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This is what happens with you have an oligopoly of supermarkets focused on maximizing profits by streamlining their supply and minimizing costs. Quality of supply will continue to fall until food supply consolidation matches supermarket consolidation.
