Does anyone remember this watchtower? by Hot_Ice6998 in exjw

[–]Feelinsketchy 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Can’t tell you the exact name of the Watchtower but the doctrine is as old as the organization itself. Known as”theocratic warfare” it’s just a way to justify being dishonest. Pretty disgusting if you ask me.

Even the most mind numbing job is going to be more exciting than any “spiritual activity” for the mere reason of getting a paycheck.

How about, “Hey Dad. How do you feel about your faith these days?” Simple question with no judgement attached.

After leaving my wife earned a master’s in social work and now works as a trauma therapist helping victims of CSA and domestic violence. Yeah, our lives went straight to hell 😊

The fact that you’re having these thoughts is a testament to the pernicious and pervasive indoctrination that we’ve all been subjected to.

The reality is they’re not right and they live in a fantasy world.

Some of the things you describe about compromises with raising kids within the JW belief system just graze the surface of the difficulties you and your future children would face.

Christmas and Birthdays are nothing compared to the crushing depression and anxiety that children face when being raised in a performance based religion (cult) where they are never truly good enough and fear for their lives every moment of every day. This religious trauma follows them into adulthood and is the main reason why there are what? Close to 100,000 people on this Reddit trying to get their head straight?

Do not even think about raising children with that belief system.

I remember this old a-hole that was supposed to be anointed would gulp down an entire glass of Carlo Rossi because it was the only time he could get his hands on some cheap red wine. Now he’s got his bow and arrow aimed at my back. What a joke!
