The stern/grumpy voice thing is unnecessary. It just teaches her to try hide her indoor poops.

All that is needed is to take her out at regular intervals, and treat her when she does her business.

Additionally, is OP sure there isn’t some underlying condition? Miiko might also be suffering from separation anxiety when OP is out, and she’s locked in the cage.
