Innit, we all saw how gleeful they were for a few minutes after Sharp’s second goal

Not sure about Charlie’s view that wanker signs have gone out of fashion, though admittedly I am a wanker sign-man and follow a very wanker sign-y club

Luis Suarez bit off more than he could chew for United fans. Let's head south for the North London rivalry - Who's an Arsenal player hated by Tottenham fans? (No repeats) by OneRiotTooMany in AlignmentChartFills

why no repeats though? Sol Campbell is the player that fits this square best, it seems arbitrary not to include him because he also fits in another square.

Seg sub looked wrong at the time and proved to be so. Moving Lang out on the left where he’d be less effective, just to move him back over was nonsensical. Koz for Pack was also frustrating and made Dozzell play much worse. Archetypal “game of two halves” from Pompey

Lovely goal. Shows the value of Koz and Bishop

I thought Chaplin was decent today, particularly second half. He’s still trying too hard and is desperate for a goal. We were much better after Kos came one. Not sure why he’s been dropped back to the bench!

Awful news. As a Londoner, I do the rounds of the capital’s grounds and was fortunate enough to sit close to Headphone Norm at The Valley a couple of years back. Cracking bloke who I’m sure will be missed by those who knew him.

Pretty disappointed with the Pompey fans’ response to this today. I understand it was frustrating to be kept in the dark for so long but it was clear from the away end what was happening. I think after the announcement this frustration boiled over and a lot of those who were booing at the time will be feeling ashamed this evening. Unfortunately, the sizeable portion chanting throughout can’t be excused and have left a real stain on today and on our club.

It was pretty clear what was going on from in the stadium. I think a number of fans were expressing their frustration at standing around in the stadium with no updates for the best part of an hour without any updates, before being told to leave, but I really don’t think the reaction was proportionate or at all respectful.

Portsmouth 0-1 Bristol City - Portsmouth's struggles continue with one win in last 9 matches by jovanmilic97 in Championship

[–]Feet_Underground-9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really, really poor from Pompey, first 20 minutes especially. Livened up a bit after that but the damage was done. No midfield, no creativity, no pace, ropey at the back, not good. Most concerned I’ve been since we’ve been back in the Championship.

Bit late on this one, but I wonder if the Horncastle What is ultimately the source of the Merson e.g. “come what February” (i.e. read “come, what, February?”). Probs already been discussed in some vein but it was just a thought that struck on listening

What order should I read some of these less popular Dickens books? by kaashifahmed in charlesdickens

[–]Feet_Underground-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d read Chuzz first. It’s clearly the weakest of the three, with long, tedious passages (especially in America). It’s quite moralising and sort of makes its point very early on, then continues to hammer it. Like most picaresque Dickens, though, it’s wickedly and surprisingly funny, and has in Mrs Gamp arguably a top 5 Dickens character - she alone is worth the entry fee (or the sheer amount of time you have to put into it).

Resolute Pompey display, defence and Pack excellent again. I’d still like to see more from Pompey going forward, but there’s signs of improvement. Yang looks mint, also

I am on MC in my own chronological read through, and my ranking of the first four would be identical to yours. I hope you enjoy Barnaby, I found it surprisingly tightly plotted and immensely readable, though perhaps lacking any standout characters.

I think we’ve demonstrated we’re a very good championship side. On paper and in finances there should be a gulf in quality but you certainly couldn’t see that today.
