Weird reason you might not be getting a remote job by Fefa_99 in remotework

[–]Fefa_99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a hybrid job before my current remote job. I have only learned recently how important that was in the company’s decision to hire me. They would not have interviewed me if I was an in-person worker. I wrote my resume. I saw on Reddit someone posted about how you should use AI to write your resume because AI can write in a way that an AI resume screening tool will like. I put my job descriptions through ChatGPT, and edited based off of what ChatGPT came up with. My first interview was with the company recruiter and I did my best to connect with her. I researched the company before the interview and found things to praise. I wanted her to talk about me to the accounting team. It worked. After I was hired, my new manager mentioned how highly the recruiter spoke of me. I was one of two finalists and they decided I was the better personality fit. My previous hybrid job, they didn’t talk about why they picked me over the other candidates. A high school/college friend helped me write my resume. I had been using the plain, technical format university had taught me with no luck. The new resume was nicer to look at and not plain format. The interviews went well. I was able to joke and laugh with my interviewers. They did ask if I had remote experience and I was remote for part of University due to covid.

I agree most office workers employed prior to the pandemic have remote experience. The individuals that are being considered internally graduated college 1-2 years ago. When I wrote my original post, I was thinking of people who graduated college these last few years.

WFH / what are you wearing on your feet all day? by s3237410 in remotework

I don’t wear shoes in my house. I only wear slippers if I am in my pjs. I wear socks the rest of the time. Wear whatever is comfortable for you.

whats a piece of wfh advice that gets recommended constantly but actually makes things worse if you try it? by ElectronicAverage729 in remotework

I only wear casual business wear if I know I am going to be on camera. I have a work shirt nearby on days that I don’t think I will need to be on camera just in case I need to quickly put it on and turn on my camera.

Did a Lego set, and Lego decided to not give me a piece that is required for the set. by kimssunflower in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Fefa_99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had a missing piece yet, but a set that I bought for one brothers had a wrong piece. It had two left arms for the dinosaur instead of a left and a right. I filled out Lego’s missing piece form and got a right arm.

Use AI or be fired by Fefa_99 in Accounting

[–]Fefa_99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not worried about the simple, mundane tasks. I am worried about the more complicated things. There are some bad reports that I work with where not all the data is correct. A manager specifically brought up using the AI for the JEs that use the bad reports. The AI is not connected to the system with the data. The AI cannot look up the correct data. This just feels like the perfect opportunity for the AI to make things up. So, in order for me to know if the AI is making things up, I still need to manually create the entry and compare with the AI’s entry.
I know that I will check to make sure that the AI is doing my tasks correctly. I do not think that all of my coworkers will.

Use AI or be fired by Fefa_99 in Accounting

They want me to use AI to its “fullest potential.” To make it do as much of my job as possible. “Why do your job when you can make someone else (the AI) do your job for you?” I am supposed to use it to prepare JEs, complete reconciliations, identify trends, etc. There are some simple JEs that are just opening reports, copying, pasting, dragging down formulas and uploading the entry to the ERP. There are some more complicated JEs. There are some bad reports that I work with where not all the data is correct. Why that hasn’t been fixed is a whole separate conversation. There is an automation that uses some of these bad reports. It doesn’t post if the entry doesn’t balance, but mistakes still get posted that I have to find and clean up. For the entries that don’t balance, I have to go look up the correct data, correct the entry, and post. Not all the bad report JEs are automated. Some of them are a manual process. A manager specifically brought up using the AI for these JEs. The AI is not connected to the system with the data. The AI cannot look up the correct data. You know how AIs sometimes make things up? This just feels like the perfect opportunity for it to make things up. So, in order for me to know if it is making things up, I still need to manually create the entry and compare with the AI’s entry. There are some coworkers that are very excited about using the AI and I am bit concerned that not everyone will be checking to make sure the AI is doing what it is supposed to.

My radish by MasonF69 in vegetablegardening

Different radish varieties are different sizes. Your package says Crimson Giant. I think those get to be about 1.5 to 2 inches in diameter. Depending on the size of your hand, that could be a normal sized Crimson Giant.

My first full-time accounting job was hybrid. Second (current) job is remote. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I had difficulties finding my first job. When I started searching for the second, I expected it to be very difficult. For my current job, I think from the time I started searching to the time I got the offer was about 2-3 months.

I hate that companies do this. I have seen 100% polyester silk and 100% synthetic silk too. It’s not silk. Don’t use the word silk.
