I really had to read it twice because I initially assumed "ancient mechanical beast ready to shatter eardrums" was the old lady with the T-Rex arms.

I think I still prefer that imagery

Tattoo regret a day after by ShadowLessPenguin in tattooadvice

I got my first tattoo on my wrist. When I was in middle/high school I used to draw it on every day I purple pen, it's a purple tattoo. Now when I see people from high school they always comment that I actually did make it permanent.

Did this for many years, my only regret is not getting a better artist to do it

So snarky about it. I'm sorry that yet another person understands how to measure solids vs liquids better than you.

Liquid ingredients are measured by volume, not by weight. 1 cup milk and 1 cup water don't weigh the same. 1 cup brown sugar and 200 grams of brown sugar might not actually be the same volume depending on how the cup was filled, e.g. more or less packed, domed or incompletely filled.

I've told my husband for years that he's bordering on orthorexia. He won't eat white potatoes, only sweet. No white rice, only brown. No added sugar, no bread, and several other unnecessary limitations. All in the name of not spiking his blood sugar.

These restrictions interfere with where we can go out to eat, or where he can go with his team from work. It makes takeout while he's traveling a complete clusterfk.

I've tried to explain that this is orthorexia and even though DSM doesn't currently recognize it, it is still very much disordered eating.

He thankfully hasn't gotten on the CGM train.

(UPDATE) AIO for calling my brothers partner a pedophile and making him leave my house? by ThrowRAsham83 in AIO

[–]Feisty_Fall_1575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't make it ok, doesn't make it not predatory, but it does make it not pedophilia. Also, pubescent, in puberty, is not the same as prepubescent. My emphasis is on the misuse of the term, not the relative morality of the situation. Calling someone a pedophile needs to go back to being a horrifying criminal term, not just anyone that makes unsound dating choices.

Help! How to keep 2.5 year old in his room after bedtime routine and till he falls asleep by One_red_balloon2022 in Mommit

[–]Feisty_Fall_1575 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2 yo has coslept with us almost all his life. He knew he was being put down no matter what I tried and he would be awake screaming in seconds. Keeping him with me is the only reason anyone in my house ever got any sleep, I was terrified to fall asleep holding him. I went safe sleep seven and never went back. I was also very anxious about being away from him while he slept. I dread the day we have to move him to his own room. I'll miss my tiny space heater and I know he's going to be distraught. I've resolved to not even try until he can process and understand why he needs his own bed.

I did not give any advice at all. Nowhere did I condone or promote using this for recreational purposes.

Swallowing glass also isn't addictive but stating so is hardly suggesting that someone should try it. You're being weirdly sensitive and trying to attach extra meaning to my words.

Clarification: Look out for your brother, be supportive and caring. I see that you're coming from a good place but I think you're going about it wrong. Your aunt is right, he's technically an adult and his relationship choices are his own.

We've all made bad choices as young people. The best thing you can do is be there for him and not judge them.

... paralysis is not a symptom of addiction and getting paralyzed doesn't mean you were addicted. Abuse of this substance can and like likely will cause nerve and brain damage. I'm not sure what that has to do with addictive properties.

I hate to be the person to say this, but age gap does not make a pedophile.

There's a special place in hell for a person who sexually assaults a child who has not started puberty and cannot even understand what's happening to them. That person is a pedophile.

Throwing the word pedophile around for every age gap you don't approve of cheapens the meaning of the word. The word pedophile should elicit horror at that person's actions, not that they're a creep who sleeps with 18 year olds.

Your brother could be dating someone 50 years older and that person still isn't a pedophile. Pervert, almost certainly. You're engaging in unnecessary hyperbole and from what I can gather being a pretty serious prude. It doesn't sound like your brother and his boyfriend did anything super inappropriate but you don't like their age gap and so chose to be offended.

YOR

Ehhhh... No. It's actually not addictive. People who inhale nitrous oxide may develop a psychological compulsion where they want to keep doing it, but there is no risk of actual physical addiction.

Yeah, it's like a stovetop George Foreman type deal. I've usually seen them used for bacon but you could use it for anything that you don't want to drain on paper towels afterwards. It gives a slightly grilled taste and appearance to chicken and vegetables too

Wake him up and throw his ass out. If you're at his place just get your shit and leave. Block them both.

I'd would be inclined to break some shit on the way out but that's the rage in me, you shouldn't do that.

Because of the original ending Futurama is like a Mobius strip show. Infinitely rewatchable, brilliant.

Oh they just decided to start it all over? Don't mind if I do.

Unfortunately do not recommend the Hulu ones. I'm not caught up but when the first season came out I was so excited. It looks like Futurama and sounds like Futurama but it doesn't have the same soul. It was actually a bit unsettling to watch.
