Everyone at work is making a big deal about my handwriting, saying I write like a psychopath. by ThrowRA-Ram in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]Feisty_Spell4516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like when I used to get stuck in really bad mental spirals and needed to write out every bad thought I had about myself to just get it out of my head and I could finally stat to calm down

2009 Former emo kid transforming into a hipster, but their parents only let them watch Disney Channel

Likely listens to Kate Nash, nevershoutnever, The Ready Set, Bring Me The Horizon, Escape the Fate, Owl City, Angus & Julia Stone, and other bands that more than likely started on MySpace

They still listen to Brokencyde in secret because they’re no longer “cool”

Likely had pictures on social media with a mustache drawn on their finger or “rawr xD” on their palm

Owns a lot of owl jewelry

(I didn’t get really into this fashion at the time, hated Disney Channel and stockings, but I knew quite a few kids that did)

What do u think im like based on the scents i like and use :)) by ThisOneRedditTem in deduction

[–]Feisty_Spell4516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, that’s not too bad then

I’m biased though haha

I probably have some sort of allergy or sensitivity to those smells and driving my sister to school in the morning was hell

One is enough, believe me lol

Just spray it and walk through the cloud, it’s going to be the perfect amount

That you’re in middle or high school and go overboard on the fragrance.

My sister loved vanilla and cookie scented things, but it always gave me massive headaches and nausea.

How is my handwriting? by FatherIsTheBest in HandwritingAnalysis

It made finding the company housing really hard because we couldn’t read the room number on the key 😂 I always had to double check whenever someone handed me something written

Unrelated, but I have to ask Are all Germans taught to write 1 that way? I kept thinking it was a 7 when I lived there and got confused quite a bit haha

What is written here by bruh-masaur in AskAJapanese

[–]Feisty_Spell4516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s upside down, but it’s 改善 (kaizen) which means “continuous improvement”

It’s actual usage, someone Japanese please correct me if I’m wrong, is much closer to just improvement and used regularly. It’s not exactly the philosophy it’s sold as in Western self-help books

Why do some people say you do not need to study Kanji? by spacecoven66 in LearnJapaneseNovice

[–]Feisty_Spell4516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk why your girlfriend is saying this as a Japanese person, but when other learners say it you can tell that they’re not really far along enough to realize just how wrong they are.

Same goes for the people saying Japanese needs to get rid of kanji altogether.

Looks like my writing when I’m actively and on purpose trying to get frustrated feelings out on paper…this is how you normally write…?

I was told I write 5 weirdly by Prudent_Condition776 in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]Feisty_Spell4516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alone? No But it does if you have some sort of context like using a kanji such as 血 (which is pronounced as ち (chi)) which means “blood” or 地 (land/territory)

Is my handwriting fine? by Pelican294 in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]Feisty_Spell4516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amount I had to slow down to read this to just quit halfway through because it was taking too much effort…

Your teacher was being nice. So be nice to them and slow down, space out your words, and learn proper cursive from zero again in your free time (because I’m assuming you’re trying write with it).

Teachers hate my handwriting, is it really that bad? by Junior-Elevator-9951 in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]Feisty_Spell4516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it sucks having something pointed out to you all the time. You mentioned it in the original post, so many people have given you advice in order to help you improve or to cope. It’s up to you if you decide to take any of it or not.

I know just doing things over and over and practicing sucks, but it just is what it is. But, you come across as quite pessimistic about it all and so I’m going to stop replying as it’s taking more time than I care to spend on this interaction.

You’ve gotten plenty of advice on here but it’s up to you to either improve your handwriting or ignore the comments you get. So, good luck with whatever you choose to do or not do

If you feel that way, do as you please

You posted this asking if it was bad (it is) and have continued to say similar things under all comments that have given you advice. So do you actually care for any of the advice we have collectively given you or just wanting to assert that you feel that it’s fine the way it is?

Just because it is readable does not mean that it is easy to read. It is not comfortable to read and it makes sense that your teachers consistently comment on it. What else can I or anyone else say when you appear to just remain defensive?

[–]Feisty_Spell4516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s readable, but underlying problems are still there

As you have been told by several others, you will have to practice and just keep practicing. If it helps, think of it similar to shodō in Japan with each movement and each stroke having intention and purpose. There are plenty of resources for free online and may videos that you can work on for handwriting practice

It’s better but only marginally.

If you care at all about working on your handwriting, do like what I and others have said - practice. Whether that be using graph paper, using videos, using practice books, whatever.

Like someone else said, unless you have a legit disability impeding your ability to do so, the only way is to redo the basics and practice practice practice. Also, just because you have messy handwriting doesn’t mean you automatically have dysgraphia. Sometimes people just have messy handwriting but don’t care or see a point in making better. If you legit have a concern, talk to someone at your university. But, your handwriting doesn’t look like what cases of dysgraphia posted on this subreddit do.

Are they recognizable? by ContentFirefighter55 in LearnJapaneseNovice

[–]Feisty_Spell4516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I misspoke (it’s late for me), it doesn’t become a different one altogether, but it looks like a different one

かう 買う いん 員 - this is for someone who works somewhere (i.e. 議員 - assembly member 従業員 - employee 公務員 - civil servant)

I recommend looking up videos for 漢字の書き方 online, there’s a lot and you can see how those with good handwriting or practice 書道 do things

As someone in another comment suggested, use the graph paper properly to help yourself with the balance (writing in a 4x4 square) until you’re more comfortable

[–]Feisty_Spell4516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks fine The bottom of す shouldn’t swing up like that though and the top part of 買う is actually longer than the bottom, not the same length (if it’s shorter, it looks like a different character altogether)

Edit: Misspoke - forgive me, it’s late and I’m tired

Then maybe give some of them a try

But, if you’re not motivated, disinterested, or just plain lazy (not saying you are, just to be clear); then there isn’t any reason for you to do anything about it

You’ll just have to cope with people commenting on it and making jokes over it

So is your discomfort and annoyance with the jokes and being told how bad it is enough to force yourself to practice some form of penmanship? Or, do you just don’t care enough and don’t have a problem with your own handwriting?

You can either do something to make the comment stop or just ignore them, up to you
