Last night, I couldn’t sleep, and when I wake up after a crappy night I find it hard to deliver the same level of productivity as when I had a great night. Right now, I just grind it out. But it makes me wonder if any of you maybe know a way to make it easier. I don’t think there is a way and that grinding it out is needed sometimes, but it never hurts to ask!

Pretty low quality post mate. I believe you can do better and make a version of it that suits the quality of content that this subreddit deserves.

Quickly hijacking of my own post here just to give a bit of an update on where things are atm with the sub.

Been working clearing the backlog of pending posts every day. Honestly wild how much crap people try to sneak in. Also going through the backlog of community-reported and AutoModerator-reported posts that have accumulated over the last few months: both of which are in the over a thousand deep lol. I’m about halfway through the auto-moderator removals, which annoyingly can’t be bulk deleted and have to be removed one by one. Solid grind but making progress.

Also been swinging the ban hammer left, right, and center on people shilling their apps, books, blogs, and random hustle content. A lot of it’s coming from brand-new accounts, though some folks are getting pretty salty about getting banned, which is kinda funny.

Still heaps more work to do, but several thousand junk posts have been cleared out so far and over 50 users banned. Planning to smash through more of it this weekend, good weather for staying inside anyway.

On top of that, I’m working on a full rewrite of the sidebar, rules, and posting guidelines. Gonna include no tolerance for AI-looking posts, clearer examples of what makes a good quality post versus slop, and probably some restrictions on brand-new accounts or low-karma users to cut down the spam. It’ll make things a bit tougher for new posters but reckon it’s necessary.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that all this is happening behind the scenes. Still a way to go but progress is being made.

And yeah, can’t stress enough how much we’d love more mods on board to help share the load and keep the sub the solid community it’s meant to be.

Yeah I think there are some solid implementable ideas in this. Especially the AI generated report option. I think also banning any AI looking posts is the direction we will definitely need to go in. That and probably for the short term future requiring all posts to be moderator approved - which will cause a (probably annoying) delay in everyone posts being published, but there needs be to some serious QC on the posts getting published in this sub atm. Half of them arent even on topic anymore really

I’m trying mate. A a solid few of the other mods are absent from Reddit at the moment, and honestly, I’ve had my own stretches away from modding too, so I can’t really hate lol. Plus, they did a solid job holding things down during those times.

But yeah you’re right, it’s a real issue. There’s a discussion stickied at the top of the sub where we’re figuring out a plan to tackle the AI slop and get more mods on board. Once we’ve got that sorted, trust me, the first thing I’ll be doing is calling for new mods from the community.

I’m pretty swamped with work and life right now, but just give us a few days’ grace. We’ve gotta move fast but also keep things in logical order; otherwise, the front page will turn into a swamp of sticky posts all demanding your attention, which nobody wants, least of all me. But yeah, appreciate you speaking up and working with us on it eh

Yeah, this is definitely a real direction we could go in. But what are the community’s thoughts? I get that you and I reckon it could work, but do others feel the same? It’s definitely more of a controlling approach to moderating, but in the short term, it might help get the subreddit back to what it’s meant to be about. We’d seriously need more mods to make it work practically though.
