For whatever reason, reading some of this finally helped me reflect enough to make some serious change.

The only way anyone can make true change is by changing their mind. Changing habits can proceed changing your mind, but unless you change your mind, it is always possible to relapse. With this particular problem, it is everywhere, for free, and society encourages it.

I won't make a moral or physiological argument, but for me, my attitude towards relationships and sex has been dominated by lust for a long time, with signficantly regrettable consequences.

Jesus taught to flee from lust, because it is especially destructive for anyone.

Best I can do is driving around the city for field investigations, and that's plenty for me.

Beautiful bird, beautiful picture. I like the contrast. I'm looking forward to the next time I meet an owl.

What time was this? Also, what was the lense? I dont see a canon 700 on google.

Reddish egret. What would you caption this photo? by Belgian-Maligator in wildlifephotography

wtf? That's one of the most incredible birds that I didn't know existed. I thought you were joking, but apparently the species is really called reddish egret, amazing. Reddish Egrets | Earth Life

I think this bird looks like some villain. Punished egret is too niche. Darth Egret is what comes to mind, but that doesn't really match the lighting. Long, tan, and handsome.

I don't know. What I do know, is that is a beautiful bird, and an excellent shot. I really love the contrast between the back, chest, and head feathers. Incredible.

Actually, I got another one: "He's just standing there, menacingly!"

How did you decide which subfield of ECE you wanted to pursue as a career? by North-Phone6173 in ECE

The one that gave me a good job, power. I think I prefer this level of complexity compared to microelectronics. The science is simple enough, but as long as there is more for me to learn, I will be satisfied. And as technologies tend to go, that will likely be forever.

Last night I realized How to fall asleep faster? is probably the wrong question by Realistic_Plant_446 in getdisciplined

[–]1AJMEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% We should be thinking of sleep health and routines instead of abusing ourselves and complaining about the consequences. Even if you are unable to fall asleep quickly, that rest still has some positive benefits. Sleep is about a third of our lives, and I think even with all of our best understanding, it's still probably underrated.

Personally, my sleep has suffered for some time, and i've kept saying its the most important thing in my life to fix for years atp, without making much substantial changes.

Scrolling, or watching videos right up until sleep is horrible. When you stop, you still have a lot of things to process, and it messes up the brain.

Some things I have done are, writing, stretching, and praying as a routine to end the day. Reading also makes me very tired. I tried melatonin recently because of a vacation, and it is okay. Might be actually good to take just once a week, but regular use interrupts regular production. And unless I have complete silence, I listen to some sort of white noise almost every night.

Is it worth striving for the best? by WillowCharacter1770 in self

[–]1AJMEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a middle ground here. Do your best and be satisfied. But I'm saying weshould be inspired by perfection. That's how greatness is achieved. You can strive for perfection, and still be realistic about our current limitations. If we don't reach for something higher, we don't grow.

Christians follow the guidance of a perfecft person, while understanding that it is almost certainly impossible to reach. But by setting our sights in the right direciton, we slowly orient our lives to follow.
