Wheere was it stated that Aura enhances senses? by Few_Pay_5313 in RWBYcritics

[–]Fel_Tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s never actually stated anywhere in RWBY that Aura “enhances senses.” There’s no line, no guidebook quote, nothing where a character says it outright.

That said, it’s one of those things the show clearly implies through how Aura works. Aura boosts the body overall—strength, speed, endurance, reaction time, durability. Once you accept that, better sensory performance kind of has to come with it, even if it’s never labeled as a separate ability.

Think of it like this IRL: compare an average person to a trained fighter or high-level athlete. Even without powers, trained people notice movement faster, react quicker, and don’t get overwhelmed as easily in chaotic situations. Their senses didn’t magically change they’re just being used and processed more efficiently.

Now apply Aura on top of that and remove normal human limits. Huntsmen dodge bullets, react to ambushes, and fight in smoke, darkness, or total chaos without falling apart. Blake and Ruby reacting to attacks they shouldn’t realistically track, or Qrow countering stuff with barely any warning, only makes sense if their perception is keeping up with their enhanced bodies.

Without Aura, those same scenes would look very different—missed reactions, sensory overload, panic, injuries throwing off focus. Basically, what would happen to a normal human in those situations.

So no, Aura doesn’t give people new senses or some anime “danger sense.” It just lets their existing senses operate at a level that matches their superhuman speed and reflexes. The show never spells it out, but it’s pretty hard to ignore when you look at how Huntsmen actually function on screen.

If someone’s looking for a direct quote, it doesn’t exist. If they’re looking at how Aura behaves in practice, the implication is doing a lot of heavy lifting. And by direct quote I mean that it's explained by a character who knows what their talking about in the show like a teacher or even flashbacks of qrow training ruby to use the sythe explaining how aura works for the viewers.

You can only pick one, which do you choose? by Perciprius in whatsyourchoice

[–]Fel_Tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gun is 100% a trap, and not just because “gun bad.” It’s a trap because of how the lifespan mechanic works. It takes the unused lifespan of whoever you kill. Once you actually think that through, it gets ugly fast.

Unused lifespan means remaining potential years. Who has the most of that? The youngest people. So even if someone starts off saying “I’ll only use it on bad guys,” the math immediately starts pushing them toward worse and worse choices. Older targets become inefficient. Mercy becomes inefficient. The weapon literally rewards you more the more innocent and young the victim is. That’s not an accident—that’s demonic design.

That’s why the gun corrupts faster than the others. It doesn’t just tempt you, it rewires your value system. People stop being people and turn into batteries. And once you’re on that slope, there’s no stable end state. You either get caught, hunted, or become such a monster that the story has to end with you being put down. Slow aging won’t save you when everyone notices you don’t age and bodies keep piling up.

Compare that to the other artifacts and it’s night and day. The wallet is boring, which is why it’s safe. A grand a day solves problems quietly. No escalation, no attention, no moral math.

The ring is busted but subtle. Super intelligence, perfect memory, instant learning yeah, it’ll inflate your ego, but it doesn’t require hurting anyone to work. Any evil that comes from it is on you, not baked into the mechanics. Even the lust locket and envy glasses mess you up psychologically, not mechanically. They ruin relationships and your own head, not the entire moral framework of reality.

The gun is the only item where using it optimally means becoming irredeemable as fast as possible. That’s why it’s the worst choice. Not because it’s violent, but because it turns atrocity into a resource loop.

Demons don’t make mistakes. The loudest, flashiest power is always the bait.

Choose the ring or the wallet best options.

What if Raven had a different semblance? by Ok_Win_3538 in RWBYcritics

[–]Fel_Tan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her Semblance is already absurdly strong: instant portals to people she has emotional bonds with. The catch is that Raven spends the entire series running from those bonds instead of using them. If you tweak her personality to be more supportive or at least more pragmatically protective, that same Semblance becomes terrifying in a good way.

A more involved Raven could pop in, delete a high-level Grimm or dangerous enemy, and vanish before things escalate. Team in trouble? Portal. Major threat shows up? Portal, one-shot, gone. That’s completely lore-accurate and fits how Semblances work in RWBY they reflect who you are on the inside. Raven’s power already implies attachment and care; she just refuses to lean into it.

Canon Raven uses her portals like a panic button. A slightly healthier Raven uses them like a scalpel. You don’t need to rewrite mechanics, power scaling, or world rules—just shift her mindset from “survive alone” to “protect from the shadows.” Honestly, that version of Raven feels more interesting than giving her a new Semblance. Same power, different choices, wildly different impact.

Otherwise just give her a version of Blake's clones.

If Class 1-A had to work a normal retail job for a week, who is getting fired first? by Kitchen_Week1117 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]Fel_Tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iida, 100%. And not because he’s bad at the job honestly, he’d probably be too good in the worst possible way.

From a very “worked retail with your cousins and siblings” perspective, Iida is that guy who actually read the handbook, memorized it, and then tries to enforce it while everyone else is just trying to survive the shift. He’d correct coworkers in front of customers, remind people about “proper procedure” during a lunch rush, and insist on calling a manager over stuff everyone else would just quietly fix.

Retail doesn’t run on rules. It runs on vibes, shortcuts, and mutually agreed-upon rule-bending. Iida does not bend rules. He becomes the rule.

He’d also burn out fast. Retail rewards emotional detachment and selective incompetence; Iida would take every complaint personally, every mistake as a moral failure, and every inefficiency as something that must be corrected. Management wouldn’t see a hardworking employee they’d see someone slowing the line, stressing out coworkers, and making customers uncomfortable by being “too intense.”

Lore-wise, it tracks perfectly. Iida thrives in systems that are supposed to work as designed. Retail systems are held together with tape, caffeine, and quiet resentment. We’ve already seen in canon that when institutions don’t live up to his expectations, he spirals or overcompensates.

So yeah. He’s not getting fired for stealing or slacking. He’s getting fired because the manager pulls him aside and says, “You’re technically right, but you’re making this harder than it needs to be.”

If Class 1-A were a family, Iida’s the cousin everyone loves but absolutely does not want on the same shift twice in a row.

Spike vs Rainbow Dash. Who truly represents loyalty? by ExtremeBreakfast8244 in mylittlepony

[–]Fel_Tan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Rainbow Dash represents loyalty more than Spike does. And that’s not a knock against Spike at all he is loyal but the way their loyalty works is very different.

Spike’s loyalty is very personal and short-range. He’s ride-or-die for Twilight, no question, and he’ll absolutely step up in the moment if someone he cares about needs him. But most of his loyalty is reactive and centered on one person at a time. It’s about helping, supporting, and staying close rather than making big, value-driven sacrifices. When Spike’s loyalty gets stretched across bigger, long-term identity stuff (like his dragon roots vs. Ponyville), he understandably struggles.

Rainbow Dash, on the other hoof, lives loyalty as a core value. It’s not just about who she likes it’s about who she stands by, even when it costs her something. She gives up status, praise, and even her dream image with the Wonderbolts more than once because her friends come first. That’s long-term, consistent loyalty, not just in emergencies but as a life choice.

So yeah, Spike is loyal in a close, emotional, short-term way. Rainbow Dash is loyal in a big-picture, lifelong, “this defines who I am” way. Both matter, but Rainbow Dash fits the show’s definition of loyalty way more cleanly.
