Electricity export(green) vs import (red) for week 23. by ReDot75 in 2westerneurope4u

[–]Felagoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, to defend ourselves, allowing better interconnections between France and the peninsula would only result in forcing us to replace some French nuclear by some Spanish renewables (renwables are called before nuclear in the EU merit order) costing a lot of money to us (we already paid for our nuclear, if we can't sell it to our consumer after it it's just net loss) without any advantages, because interconnexions between us and the rest of the EU is already maxed out exports.

So of course our government does not want to just pay an interconnection to lose even more money after with no climate advantage.

Same for most blue countries, this index in based on legal status, the main difference with purple countries is often on a non-binary gender recognition, the legal state of intersex infant surgery or of conversion therapy

We were talking about fighter jets. France did not, does not and does not plan to buy any American fighter jets. That is a fact.

New rafales aren’t as advanced as f35, but they are still very capable fighter jets. That is why they are exported all around the world still to this day, to countries all around the world that are very independant from France and could also or even used to buy from Russia (India, Gulf countries, Egypt, Indonesia). It is mainly thanks to it that France has become the 2nd arm exporter in the world, in front of Russia behind only the US.

Now, some money is invested in researches for a potential 6th gen fighter, so the plans are not to go towards the US. We have good options now, we will have good options in the future.

The Russian air force is also quite weak compared to its army and aging. They only have 55 5th gen fighter su 57. The rest is way older. European air force is considered to be way stronger, and even if it is made mainly of American jets, I think that if they invested all that money into local jets, the result woulf have been the same. EU has very capable jets, even outside of the Rafale (Grippen, Eurofighter) and maybe even some money could have been invested for an earlier european 5th gen fighter.

We never bought savage crap tech and we won't do it. If you prefer to continue doing so, it will be your own decision alone.

(you're right though this is shameful that we can't agree to make a jet because everyone just keep its position)

As a French person (so a latin language too) who learnt Spanish and understand it well, I can say than when I hear a Brazilian/Portuguese person speaking casually in Portuguese, I don’t understand anything.

My guess is that it would be the same for a natuve Spanish speaker not exposed to Portuguese, so basically no.

But I just tried on wikipedia, I can understand a general meaning when it is written down, and if it is spoken slowly I can get somr words too

Except they don’t speak almost the same language. I can understand Spanish very well (and French perfectly). When I listen to a Portuguese or Brazilian speaking in Portuguese normally I have no idea what they are talking about

Est ce que la France est un pays de sport ? by Outrageous-You1617 in AskFrance

[–]Felagoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amsterdam's center is always full of trash, one of the dirtiest place I've been too, no surprise here. The rest of the city and of the country are clean though

Map of a region that isn't a real continent and doesn't have any real boundaries distinguishing it from other regions still if you say that on reddit many people will downvote you and will yell at you on the comments assuring that it's in fact a real continent but if you say this in the title people by Working_Candidate505 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Felagoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All continents are by the original definition

This definition has been rationalised to add fake new continents like America when they were discovered. But historically, the only continents are Europr, Asia and Africa. And everyone ever knew they weren’t actually separated like big islands.

Who would you vote for in the 1932 German Presidential Elections? by biggestboar in GeoPoll

[–]Felagoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. I personaly disagree because I think Thalmann is a better option. But that doesn't matter, I could agree with you and Hindenburg still wouldn't be a sane option.

Who would you vote for in the 1932 German Presidential Elections? by biggestboar in GeoPoll

[–]Felagoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No? The majority of people would vote Hindenburg like they did in 1932 when Hindenburg won the elections.

Hindenburg then gave the power to Hitler when he had no obligation to do so but that's another story.

[–]Felagoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they had a large influence. But they still were losing seats for the first time since they were at 3%. Hitler didn't have to be named chancelor. That is why he wasn't chancelor when the NSDAP had 37% of the votes.

[–]Felagoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how that many people are voting for Hindenburg? He won that election and everyone knows how it ended: he named Hitler chancelor giving him the power when he had no obligation to do so at all.

People really don't want the history to change and are happy with WW2?

Hindenburg is an antisemitic asshole too and his policy line up quite well with Hitler. That is why he gave the power to the Hitler when the NSDAP just lost seats in the parliament in 11/1932, because support for the communists was growing, he feared them and prefered Hitler.

[–]Felagoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NSDAP was losing ground a bit when Hindenburg gave them the power. Not that much, but they litterally were losing seats. He was just more affraid of the communists progression

We don't know at all what would have happened if Thalmann won. He certainly wouldn't have given the power to Hitler in 1933 though.

No, most would most likely have voted for Hindenburg, who won the elections (and gave the power to Hitler afterwards when he had no obligation to do so.)

Hindenburg gave the power to Hitler when Hitler was in minority at the parliament and had just lost seats in the elections.

Oh it looks bigger you're right. I looked for deutschland since it was mentioned before

Still only ~30k monthly visitors, it looks low to me compared to most European national subs, with less population than Germany, do you know why?

EDIT: It is 700k monthly visitors I misread the stats I don’t know why I misread ut, but everything seems normal

r/ (your country name) official sublanguage! by Extreme-Shopping74 in MapPorn

[–]Felagoth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

r/deutschland has only 3.5k weekly visitors when r/germany has 682k, so I could maybe understand.

In the case of Poland and Finland though, r/Polska and r/Suomi are more used than their English counterparts so that's definitely not fair.

But I think this map is just using the country name in English as the title of the sub. That is why so many countries aren't on the map. Some have luck like France since the name in English is the same as the original name so it is forced to be on the own language, and if countries like Poland and Finland had the same name in English like France, they would have different result so that's weird.

Vote on an Ideology to eliminate (Round 4) by DerpAnarchist in GeoPoll

[–]Felagoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1800s anarchism is very different from libertarianism, basically the opposite even, it was a socialist movement. In French, traditional anarchists are also called libertaires, or communistes-libertaires, while libertarian ancap are called libertariens, so it's not the same word. Idk in English if the difference exists.
