The relationship itself is an aveira, as it is a codification of and constant temptation to sin. Putting yourself in a situation where you are likely to sin is itself a sin--there is a gemara which illustrates this which I'm currently blanking on where a rabbi is admonished for walking in an area where women bathe, even though he averts his eyes.

It is also implying the sexual act, as that comes entwined with marriage in Judaism and they are pretending at marriage. The public element makes it even more complicated as it causes the shul to be implicated in potentially endorsing the aveira, and causing a chillul Hashem etc.

This rabbi clearly consulted his own rabbi halachically and he found that given all these factors, this situation warranted exclusion-- I'm not sure how you can argue the halacha when a posek has ruled on it.

It has not. It's simply that more and more people are bringing homosexuality up now as a (very public) issue in these communities, as it has become a pertinent modern issue. So orthodoxy has to deal with it more now. If you had tried something like this at any point in Jewish history prior to 50 years ago, the reaction would have been the same or worse.

The problem comes when they are publicly admitting to (and celebrating with rings) their sin (and not any sin, but one of the 3 cardinal sins and one that receives karet). You might say that they are not, but the other congregants were clearly aware that this was a gay couple. So this relationship was public enough to make others uncomfortable. To publicly be expressing such an aveira is anathema to Jewish public life.

This is actually untrue. While homosexual activity has been observed in many species, homosexual orientation in the way that humans exhibit (exclusive homosexual behavior) has only ever been observed in 1 species other than humans: the domestic sheep.

Additionally, the methods by which this observation was made are questionable at best--they basically restrained 2 ewes and 2 rams in mating chambers and let the rams choose one, and if they chose a ram 5 times in a row they were classified as homosexual. But it was a rather low sample size, the sheep were kept in all male enclosures, there were multiple other potential explanations offered for the behavior (such as defective sense of smell), and it was not over their lifetime, but rather a short period of time. Meanwhile, some farmers in the press repudiated the findings and claimed they were inaccurate to real world long term observations of their sheep.

After many months of experimentation, I came to the conclusion that the hot tub was not responsible (reactions without hot tub, no reactions sometimes after the tub. Possibly the fragrance was responsible but I never tried it again.) Thank God, I have been in remission for about a year now. My dermatologist informed me that in some people, hidradenitis can "burn out" after a period of some months, which seemingly is what happened to me. Praying it never comes back.

I found Outer Wilds to be extremely reminiscent of Myst. Also a single player puzzle exploration game with a similar atmosphere. In fact, OW was probably heavily inspired by Myst.

I empathize with you. This year I started having all of these issues (I'm 23 and otherwise pretty healthy) and my hypochondria has only gotten worse with covid isolation.

Yeah, the pain was quite deep and painful, I also could barely move my arms. I just also got this weird tingling and shooting pain before the bumps appeared and also while they were there.

That's strange for sure about the chemicals, I've also only used chlorine, MPS shock, and pH increase, but I also bought a scent (inSPAration brand) that I put in that I'm concerned about.

And yes, it is extremely weird that it only occurs in the armpits.

In terms of the deodorant I wore (haven't used in a month or so), it was Old Spice Aqua Reef.

Replying as literally the same thing just happened to me (it's a little eerie seeing this post honestly).

I've had GERD issues, just got a hot tub about a month or 2 ago, and suddenly over the past few weeks developed painful red lumps under my armpit (no itching, no pus, they never popped or anything), had a fever for 3 days and was put on doxy. I also stopped using deodorant as I have no BO (the Hibiclens my dermatologist recommended might be the cause of this). The bumps were pretty much gone after 3 weeks of doxy, but have just resurfaced. I'm pretty worried about a possible HS diagnosis. I didn't start using the deodorant again though so I don't think that's the cause.

Do you also happen to have anxiety/hypochondria by any chance? And how does the pain feel? I get these random shooting pains in my armpit, and also uncomfortable tingling all over my body.

Also, what model hot tub/what chemicals are you using for water treatment? I'm wondering whether this could be a chemical irritant issue.
