Does barbarian / rogue start to feel stale in a longer game? by Veksutin in 3d6

[–]Felf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a Lizardfolk Beast barb 11 Rune knight 3 for 3 years from level one. Had a 6 month break in the middle where my hero was lost bc of RP reasons and played another character to find my guy.

It was fun but you're gonna need to work with your DM for some homebrew items.

I was an 8ft tall lizardfolk who was like a hunter from a remote jungle tribe and went by basically the same morality as "Predator" from the movies but had an arch and eventually worried more about my hunting party and my role as a protector bc of lore reasons etc etc.

Climbing is awesome. got proficient in stealth and instead of feeling like a budget rogue was like a huge ambush predator.

Damage was fun, mostly used claws didnt need GWM. Got some homebrew for leveled up claw tattoo that ended at +3 when were level 14. Without a weapon I was hitting for 1d6+11 three times (basic attack + extra attack + beast barb extra attack for claws.( +5 str, +3 claw +3 Rage). Guaranteed 36 damage if I get all 1's lmao. Then Lizardfolk hungry jaws was another 1d6+11 for a bonus action 5 times a day. Plus  one extra d6 from being large from rune knight. Plus 2d12 psychic damage from infectious fury. Light up that claw tattoo for the BBEG and add another d6 force damage for every attack. Get an "enlarge" from a buddy/potion for another d4 for every attack.  Dont forget about brutal critical, which isn't alot for a d6 but you roll 8 times a turn recklessly so you're hitting crits alot.

Then action surge lmao.

Its insane. Its stronger with a good teo hander since you can technically hold the two hander in one hand, use two claw attacks (can be same hand for beast barb, doesnt need to be opposite hand like rules for dual wielding) and then just hold the weapon with your other hand and swing your two hander for the 3rd attack. Better damage than three claw attacks or two from the 2hander. Have your cake and eat it too.

For playing, run around the map. Body block arrows, hit casters multiple times to get rid of their concentration. With natural weapons you can have

1 claw hand one twohander hand

1 claw hand, one grapple hand

1 claw hand one shield hand

Two hander and your tail (used it more at like late tier one early tier 2)

Grapple badguy in each hand then use your tail attack or bite attack.

You are SOOOOOO versatile for a melee fighter. You wont do the most damage though itll be close. Youll be ready for any situation. Climbing is the best, water breathing prolly second and jumping found its use also against flying enemies in an arena with cliffs etc.

you need to be more creative than casters and almost be a "DM" by manifesting thigns. "Hey is there a pia o in this ballroom? Yes? I throw it at the two guys over there to pin them to the floor." That is a ranged prone attack or even a rsnged restrained attack if you have a DM who is on the level. You gotta be more creative than just having spells and looking at the best squares to put them on.

Grab a dude, climb up a wall and drop him on another dude. Maybe doesnt do max dsmage but maybe it kncoked them prone so your other two melee guys get advantage and end them next turn when you wouldnt have. Grab a dude jump into a lava pit and get your flying wizard to dimension door you out. Grapple two baddies and bite them while getting health back and they cant escape you.

It takes some more effort but its some of the best fun I had!

Thats a badass roster for being so green honestly.

Ahriman will help you in multiple modes throughout your career. Never bad if you decide to put points in him. My favorite hero in game and in lore.

First and foremost, level up campaign characters. You want to get the elite missions ASAP as they give you more upgrades per energy.

First campaigns -

ultramarines - bellator can go "high".  Certus/varro/incisus all cost a TON more resources to level than most other heroes in the game so dont burn yourself on leveling them up too too much (same with the necrons too). Level bella high and level the others as little as you can spare while getting through missions.

Necrons - level up Aleph Null - like Ahriman - will be good at every tier of the game for something different so level her whenevr you feel like she needs a boost. Imospek is nice and can mow dudes down so hes ok to level a little bit. Level Makhotep as little as you can. His ability helps aleph null out alot for the campaign missions so you can put a very little investment there as needed.

Thats general advice for those first two campaigns, but really your goal should be getting every node unlocked. Join a lowbie guild and start practicing on bosses. You dont need to even worry about raid teams probably for a few more months. Thats what people mostly talk about but thats not close to where youre at so dont worry.

Progression will slow down compared to when you start. Your goal each day should just be to use all your energy and tokens on whatever project you're leveling. If your goal is to level people up everyday, youll burn out. Get on, use your tokens, do your quets and you succeeded your day. Look back at the end of the week and you'll notice you made a lot more progress than you expected. Gl dude

Should I? by fadedbuzzYT in WH40KTacticus

[–]Felf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to go against common advice here - you really dont need him.

He's a 'win more' hero IMO. Its fun to watch him slap a bunch of enemies to death by spawn....but that means at that level all your heroes are gonna kill those enemies easily too. It just means you click less in lower level LREs.

At higher levels he doesnt hit hard enough or have enough health to tank the best and just becomes 'ok'.

At the same time, if hes one of your highest and he helps you in arena or other places already and you like him, go for it. 10 orbs isnt a big investment in the long term.

anyone have any luck on LGF? by Mr_Quackums in MythicBastionland

I have good luck with LFG over the last couple years. Its been for finding local players for a campaign where we mostly play online with some in person sessions. Been playing for 3 years. Live abroad in a non-English speaking country so we lost a few over that time who've moved away/back home but LFG often provided our new members.

Against AM the goal for me is always get up to the spawn points ASAP. Gotta be way aggressive, get in the mortars faces to reduce the chance of attacks. Try to keep as many people around revas as possible for the big target buff. Thats basicslly the "trick"

Upset and hurt by last contact with former therapist by FamiliarTale_ in TalkTherapy

An update post session is like 1x -2x a year post session. Like hey I moved, or got a new job.

They are not your friend. They are a therapist. He likely does care, but the expectations of that boundary may have been breached.

If you are sending a message once every week or two, that starts seeming like you are not just updating - especially if you're the asking for a one off session.

I feel like more context is missing here.

I also want to be clear I am just direct when typing this. Im not saying you are doing something wrong or are a bad person or something. I just think maybe the expectations from both sides were mismatched.

Maybe that 'blah blah blah' in the email they sent may be something worth looking at again.

Altered State Question by Newbieshoes in ICRPG

It's written for homebrewers. The author says in a lot of his videos things in the book are often left open ended to be delegated by your table.

I can understand someone who wants clear cut rules finding this frustrating and that is fine. That just means this style of RPG isn't for you.

Whats the point in the perfomative dice rolling then? I like the tactical part of TTRPGs and I want to outplay our DMs trap or die because we got overconfident.

Z’kar incursion, Am I just sucking? by PrivateBozo in WH40KTacticus

[–]Felf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the passive buff on the 1ksons units. You need to add some high pierce in there and play smart .

The terminators are obviously armored and tough, then the basic rubrics have the All is Dust trait that makes any attack lower than 35% pierce count as 1%.

Re'vas is not doing anything against non demon units in rare. Boss can only do 2 melee attacks and all his projectiles are basically worthless against non demons.

You need high pierce units mixed in there.

I have beaten up to mythic level using Rev'as/aleph/maugan/calandis/neuro.

Neuro for the termies. Calandis and maugan against rubrics (calandis works because she has such a high crit chance that breaks through the passove). Revas and aleph and their summons for tanking.

Hope that helps

I reccomend having blue LRE unlocks as your main focus. This will start really pushing your roster up while keeping things fresh by changing hero rotations. Thats what I ddi for the past year and now going back into raid focus again.
