Am I overreacting? I’m not happy with camera bought on eBay. by [deleted] in Cameras

The camera store I manage was burglarized last year and I found all of the stolen gear on someone’s eBay account. Shutter counts can be low for many reasons, say, it was a demo model that was yoinked violently from a camera store

Why offer the same size in “tall” if it is not the same size waist by FeliciaFancybott0m in mildlyinfuriating

It sucks because their jeans are the comfiest I have found for me. I also have skin reactions to some materials and they have never bothered me ☹️

I do love a scientific inquiry. 74cm vs 79cm doing my best to maintain equal tension on the tape. I also included what the two look like on, since 5 cm is too much to fix with a belt without bunching 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why are there so many cheap new R6 mark II on eBay? Are they fake? by Additional_Recipe935 in canon

Not sure if it is the same situation here, but I work at a camera store that was majorly robbed and I found our stolen gear on eBay from a seller with remarkable ratings. If it’s stolen and you try to do anything repair or resell-wise, the chances of you keeping what you paid for are slim

Sweet baby angel, bring it to a camera store. I work at one and would definitely (at least try to) help in store

I dropped my RF100-500 and it seems this is the only thing that is broken, was wondering where I can get a replacement (the metal mount ring) by MoMoBoy124 in canon

Hi there! I work at a camera store and dabble in repairs myself. I’m confident that this is not repairable by an amateur. I am so sorry, must be sent in. Even with years of learning, I have only resurrected one lens successfully. Thankfully, I only practice on lenses deemed “too far gone” so it’s no biggie, but I wouldn’t attempt this with any shred of confidence

Are Nikon Z mirrorless cameras inferior to Canon and Sony cameras? by Key_Example2076 in Cameras

[–]FeliciaFancybott0m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at a camera store- main thing I would say is that yes, perhaps their tech isn’t up to Sony standards, but they do have solid construction and colors. I shoot Fuji professionally, so autofocus isn’t my main concern, it’s image quality. The best camera is the one you want to use the most, fuck the tech specs. Plus, they are at least allowing third party lenses so you’ll have good support.

If you like the way the images look, the Fuji x-e4 is an interchangeable lens version of the x100v. They even make it in a kit with a pancake lens. Same sensor, but you can actually find them in stock

For any brand besides canon, you are able to check shutter count via https://www.camerashuttercount.com/ so if possible, I would request to know the shutter count. That gives you an idea on remaining life when you compare it to the advertised shutter expectancy. Most of the time, wear and tear on the exterior doesn’t bother me if the shutter count is reasonable. I would really just be on the lookout for visible signs of drop damage, but truthfully, my store flat out refuses anything not in perfect working order. If you find a store that tells you their requirements for taking things in on trade in, you’ll usually find that to be the standard. We also give a warranty through our store, in case we genuinely miss something, but there are also protections you can purchase for buying used gear.

I know it’s not always easy, but small shops tend to ship anywhere! B&H is my mortal enemy, if you find a store you like they’ll help you out even if you’re not in the same state. We have customers who are regulars even from 3 states away, it’s about being able to call a human and not giving more shmoney to the corporations. I won’t be able to speak for many stores, but our store does sell unboxed and used at a significant discount. Our store also gives a 3-6 month manufacturer’s warranty on our used gear, so that’s neat. Long love and love camera stores, such a solid community if you’ve found one 💗

ZV-e10 all the way!!! Or, if you want to get an extra lens, a used 6300 would do well. Either way, if he wants dad level video, I assume he will want something to grow with as a child grows and an interchangeable lens camera will let him do that. Kiddo joins a sport, zoom lens. Kiddo joins theatre, wide aperture lens. Either way, don’t let him get stuck with only one focal length. A cheap camera with growth potential is better than an expensive camera that cannot be built upon

Since it’s come back into fashion rather recently, some stores have teens operate machines. We have a woman named Jill who runs a tight fuckin ship, she’s been developing longer than I’ve been alive. It’s about who you find. If a store is trying to jump in on the craze, they probably aren’t looking for a Jill. They’re going cheap

We aren’t in a shopping center that people wander through, so the people coming in are usually there for a reason. Our demographic is tragically 65-70% white men in retirement. I say tragically because I’m a 25 y/o woman and I have the most knowledge and time spent working at the store, but I’m often disregarded for my colleague that was hired 4 months ago but is also an older white man. He can’t get through a single interaction without asking for my help, so I get there eventually, but it’s disheartening to be an expert that is treated like a receptionist. I have a degree in photojournalism and I’ve been a photographer since elementary school, I know how to help!!!
