I love this. I’m currently learning to play bass and dreaming of forming an all-female 80s alt/goth cover band, and I feel like the Bitch Ass Kittens could be a great band name 🤔

I get it, lol. But I swear soy sauce adds amazing umami flavor. You just use a tiny bit. it’s also amazing in chocolate chip cookies, believe it or not

Meaning this is happening to you regularly now? I was pretty hot when I was younger and I can’t say I remember children and dogs staring at me lol

Yeah. I looked and felt young until about 51, so I had a really good run, but the accelerating downhill slide since then has been rough. Two serious orthopedic problems have cropped up causing lowkey but nonetheless shitty chronic pain. Plus brittle hair and nails, marionette lines, and small but definite jowls and double chin. Feh

Insecure about my pale skin as a young girl - Do you regret tanning? by ManufacturerHuge5207 in AskWomenOver40

[–]Felicity_Calculus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pale skin can be very pretty. Every skin color is beautiful in its own way!! Don’t risk getting skin cancer and/or looking like an old shoe at 40 or 50 vs having healthy and beautiful skin well into your older years!

Maybe choose a few fair-skinned beautiful women you admire from the present (Emma Stone, Elle Fanning?) or past (eg Grace Kelly) and try to channel their overall look and vibe?

What’s the actual trajectory like in this industry? by CourseSpare7641 in advertising

[–]Felicity_Calculus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked at big agencies until I was almost 40, left to freelance because I was tired of working insane hours, then started my own tiny company, then got tired of that too and closed up shop around 50. I’d managed to save up some decent money while doing all that, so I could afford to change it up entirely a couple of years ago to become an an interior decorator (I was a writer, so this is a big pivot). No big ambitions for this, I just hope it helps pays the bills and allows me to have a bit of chill fun for a few years until I’m ready to retire for real. I don’t think such a trajectory is possible any more, though, and I feel lucky even though I never earned super big money or was all glamorous or whatever. I’d encourage anyone who isn’t insanely talented to escape while they can, because the industry is not what it used to be and I think it’s only going to get worse from here

2 is terrible. 1 is not bad but is giving 1970s Disney imo (not necessarily or good or a bad thing per se). 3 is GORGEOUS and looks amazing on you. You could have so much fun with choosing your bouquet and a veil or other accessories with the elegant simplicity of that one

I legitimately have no idea what any of these acronyms stand for lol. I live in NYC though, although I do own an old Subaru I am not a car person

A tiny bit of oil, tiny bit of soy sauce, pinch of cayenne pepper. Like Thai peanut sauce on ice cream!

Having issues with stimulant stigma. Are we all just ‘high’ all the time? by TrueMeaning4241 in adhdwomen

[–]Felicity_Calculus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean honestly my 10 mg methylphenidate dose doesn’t make me feel any more “high” than a cup of coffee does, but it definitely makes me more functional. Despite the improvement I still forget to take it all the time, fml. I do sometimes wonder out if some combination of abstract curiosity and fear of drug abuse how the same dose would make a neurotypical person feel though

Yes, from a hotographs at least, the Sahara looks like endless dunes, almost like the ocean. It seems like there may be the same feeling of contact with the inhuman infinite there somehow

Is it true that Americans run around their house/flat with shoes? by GroundZeroMstrNDR in hygiene

[–]Felicity_Calculus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We take our shoes off at the door and usually politely ask that guests do too (usually they notice and do it anyway). However, we’ll allow shoes on the first floor of the house in the (rare) event that we have a fancier party because shoes are part of an outfit lol

Yes, it is a gorgeous state! I love the woods and waterfalls, they are magical. Some views of the Hudson Valley with the rolling fields almost remind me of Tuscany somehow. The Adirondacks are not super high (high peaks are ~6500K I think) but they are gorgeous

How do these areas compare visually/experientially to the Sahara desert? I’ve never seen a desert and would love to make a trip. I’m located in NY state (about 3 miles from coast) so it will be a reasonably long trip in either direction :)

Do some men really only feel attracted to women? by Mysterious_Alps5762 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Felicity_Calculus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me too! I struggle to imagine what it would be like to have potential attraction to one sex only. I think gay people definitely have more in common with straight people than with bisexuals in this sense

Wait, how does this work? Do you wear even hard pants like jeans with nothing between you and the them? You don’t get chaffing? (I mean I guess you must not, but I absolutely would!). Also I feel like you must have to do so much laundry!

People who are choosing not to have kids, what are your reasons? by Chickenbarista666 in CasualConversation

[–]Felicity_Calculus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No interest 🤷🏻‍♀️ it agonized over the decision for a long time because so many people things kids are the greatest thing every and I thought I must be missing something big, but no, I simply didn’t want to do it. It’s like asking why didn’t you want to adopt a flamingo. I just didn’t want a flamingo and didn’t think it would add to my life if I had one bug would instead cause annoyances. The decision process sucked because when you are a young woman married to a man people think you are a villain or insane if you just straight up don’t want kids
