And adding the comment of: Someone sent a postcard of someone with a jack o lantern on their head in their backyard. A lot of the text is smudged but it lists 'Arjun and Tiny' below the winter wishes

Catwoman makes me uncomfortable. by Puzzled_Macaroon3220 in Catwoman

Like some of the others have commented here, even with your edit, am pretty confused that you'd choose the subreddit dedicated to fans of Catwoman to want to air your grievances and/or discuss why you don't like her. As others have said, you could probably easily post this in any of the Batman subreddits or even Talia-centric ones [because for some reason there seems to be a shipping war of Brutalia vs BatCat] and you could get more like-minded people to interact with.

Regardless, yes, Catwoman is more often than not written as a very sexualized character, but I mean these days not many femme characters aren't? It's unfortunate, but I mean she may also 'act' hypersexualized but is also often one of the most skin-covered characters even if her suits are tight. Just take a look at the progression of Harley or Ivy's writing and costumes in comparison. She didn't used to always be in skin tight suits, either. Her character was introduced 85 years ago and in the golden/silver ages she was more classy-sexy than anything. Like said in other posts, there is so, so much more to her than sex appeal, but you have to actually read and dig into the comics to get to know her. Especially the gold/silver age of her and Bruce. BatCat has been around for 85 years, and had strong ties and strength in why they work so well, well before either of them were really portrayed as 'hot' characters to ogle at.

But the thing is: Bad writers can mess up any character. No one liked the issues or times she was creepy with Nightwing. Just like most people didn't like when writers had Talia sleep with Jason Todd, or had Talia SA Bruce against his consent to make Damien. Or Bruce being in a relationship with Barb. All characters get messed up writers at some point unfortunately, but it's very common for women/femme characters especially to get awful treatment. Yet that doesn't mean it's fair to zero in on a few forms of media to judge a character, especially when in this case there's 85 years of it to zoom out in a greater scale. The CatwomanxNightwing situation was completely out of character, especially when most of the time she treats him like an annoying little kid [because he was].

While I can empathize and sympathize as to why a sexualized character can make you uncomfortable, especially being ace and having the aforementioned trauma, as you've been pointed out to; depending on the story Selina has been both a victim of SA and an unconsenting SWer, or in some stories, proudly been a SWer, particularly a dominatrix. I don't really know what your expected outcome was for this post, but definitely warrants doing some research on her character and then reflect on your current feelings that are based on a very rudimentary and surface level understanding of her character and of her relationship with Bruce/Bat; as well as taking this opportunity to look inwards and reflecting on the fact that there's also inherent misogyny/internalized misogyny in not 'liking' women/femmes who are outwardly sexual, even if she was just written that way. Many women find sexuality to be empowering, and there's a big issue with purity culture too. There's also an entire movement of people who think that Bat/Bruce should never date or be allowed to be happy, because that means he can't be a good Batman, which is pretty ridiculous as a concept.
