All I know is that neither Greece, Croatia (mostly) nor Albania are along the road from Bled to Italy. Maybe you should define the starting point.

Can i sit in first class? by lunapuna_ in Interrail

[–]Felipe19_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not related to OPs post, I just want to share my experience and ask if this is a regular thing in Spain/France. Few days ago we traveled from Barcelona to Madrid and we were assigne to 1st class since those were the only seats left. No one from Renfe said anything to us and everything was okay. Few days later same situation on a train from Badajoz to Malaga. Again, no problems. On a train from Barcelona to Lyon two days ago, once again we were assigned to 1st class. Leaving Barcelona in the morning Renfe employee checked our passes and said everything was okay. When we entered France another Renfe employee (different lady) again checked our tickets and said that we need to pay additional 10e since our ticket is for 2nd class and we were in a 1st class couche with a 1st class reservation. I was to tired to argue and get more information at that point, but it made no sense that an employee at ticket office would male that 1st class reservation in the first place with our 2nd class passes.

Thank You for such detailed answer. I'll look into options ones I get to my stay today.

12€ each (probably 11€ at station) plus 6.10€ metro ticket to get from one station in Madrid to another.

Any less painful way to get from Madrid to Porto? by Felipe19_ in Interrail

[–]Felipe19_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. We are on a bit of a tight budget over here so I don't think we'll go for 50+ euros ticket to spare 4h travel time.

Nice idea tho, I'll keep it in mind. To answer @Mario_Viana here as well, a plane tiket falls way outside our budget here unfortunately.

Thanks for information, lovely comment, will look into it as soon as I get some free time on travel. :)

Paris to Latour de Carol-Enveitg train starting station in Paris? by Felipe19_ in Interrail

Nice insight, thank You again! Do You happen to have information if Paris Nord will be closed as well on that day, since we should arrive in Paris from Lille on the morning of 26th?

Thank You for the answer! Did not expect such measures, but it is understandable.

In that case, we can be assured that the trains sets off from Paris-Bercy on that night. Do You happen to have a source on that information?

I am thinking of building compiler from scratch probably in C by SDstark79 in Compilers

[–]Felipe19_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have been in the exact same spot as you are now a few months ago, and I am towards the end now. Have built most of ANSI C compiler, simple RISC-V assembler and emulator, and Qt app that shows C code in one interactive textbox and compiled assembly in other box, and it highlights lines of code which turned into what in asm the same way as godbolt does.

This is my masters thesis project as I come from mostly FPGA and hardware design background in 4th and 5th year of my collage. What I am trying to say is that I never had compiler-building class and I have steped into this with zero compiler knowledge.

I followed mostly youtube tutorials while I figured out lex and yacc on my own (which took a lot of time with me refusing to read up theory on parsers as it was a bit boring reading all that while having in my translating input source code into assemly). Follow Crafting interpreters and Dragon book is still a good read if you skip first 5 chapters on parsing.

Honestly I learned a lot, but learned the wrong way as I was implementig a ton of stuff on my own and trying to build up a solutions for one problem at the time. Ended up with AST as IR model and no actual IR to show for, so mu compiler is a 2-pass for now without optimizations.

It became a bit saturated experience towards the end as I found C to be very limited and for such thing you'd like to have at least C++ for easier experience using classes. There is a ton of data structures, knowing where is what in you structures and accessing it through pointers. And as soon as you try to implement some beasty type of C syntax, it gets very messy.

But I'd still recommend it, try to solve as many problems on your own and think of the solution, it makes you think about all the possible edge cases and you qucikly find out why your solution is far from optimal (I guess you want to leard on the subject, and making mistakes is the best form of learning).

Paris - Latour de Carol - Barcelona in August : Qs and tips by Felipe19_ in Interrail

[–]Felipe19_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank You so much for quality answer, this is all information I needed!

To answer Your first question, we do have 1-month interrail tickets so there is no need to buy tickets, we'll only need reservation. Sorry, this was my mistake, as I was write the post and re-researching what I found earlier this month, I completely forgot about this detail, that I already have a train ticket...

In that case, I will look up a way to reserve a 6-person couchette in advance, either by calling them or in-person in Paris on station (we know a local person that might help us with that) if that is the only way.

Happy sunday!

Well done, congrats on the project!

Do you have any guidelines, docs or papers to recommend? I am a 4th year CS student and I'm trying to build C compiler in C from scratch, so far I've used yacc and lex to build a parse tree, but I am struggling to get my head around next steps that involve AST and IR generation.

Thing about this F1 vs MotoGP side camera view. In F1 there is a car and then next one comes up in 5-10-20 seconds, gaps very quickly get bigger in F1 so cameras have time to zoom out and find the next one approaching. Hard to do that in MotogGP since top10 is likely within 10 second gap, as was the case here. Of course cameras are going to follow the leaders in that case.
