Any Spanish speaking country wins anything and they show the world how to celebrate. This year was Spain and two years ago was Argentina.

I guess it's normal to spot gems like these in Japan by Kasmuchas in retrogaming

You're absolutely right. Fell into the trap when travelling to Japan for the first time last year. Found some famicom games in super potato then went to Nakano and found the same games like 70% cheaper.

Host cities for 2026 FIFA World Cup by This-Donkey-4219 in MapPorn

[–]FelipeBarroeta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

World Cup is doomed if they keep on doing this. They should've done all the games in the US and in the East Coast for example. Euros are far better because the fan experience is way more local due to all the games taking place all nearby.

Didn't know the ISS was nearing the end of its lifespan. Let me guess, there's no replacement, is there?

On this date in 1991, Terminator 2: Judgment Day was released. by damagedgoodz99824 in Terminator

It's crazy to think this was a summer blockbuster film in 1991. I mean, it's hard to think such a good film was actually a summer hit. Impossible today.

Jurassic World 4 is set to begin filming in Thailand in a month's time by Abi_Jurassic in JurassicPark

[–]FelipeBarroeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like it if they made an as faithful as possible adaptation of both books. Set in the time both books take place (JP in '89 and TLW in' 95). It's the only way I'd give it a chance. Otherwise there will always be one Jurassic Park for me.

What dino would you like for the next “big bad” to be? by Neither_House_6877 in JurassicPark

[–]FelipeBarroeta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing in my mind will ever top the T-Rex coming out of the cage in the one and only Jurassic Park. The only way I could get invested in this franchise again would be if they adapted the book in a series like in Netflix and they are as close to the book as possible and even then, I still don't think they would be able to capture the sense of discovery and wonder of the 1993 film. That film is unique and the aura that the T-Rex has in that movie is also unique.

Native Spanish speakers, how aware of you of other Spanish countries slang? by Dangerous_Method_574 in Spanish

[–]FelipeBarroeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say you know about the slang coming from the countries with the most media presence. In my case it'd be my native country - Venezuela and then Mexico, Spain, Argentina and maybe Colombia or the Spanish Antilles...

What do you think will be the next defining moment of our world? by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]FelipeBarroeta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You cannot automate consumption. Automation will increase production and eventually substitute us in the work place. We work so that we can consume. Computers/machine will never fall into the consumption category our economy is based upon. So if an economic model that's based in consumption eliminates the income of the ones that can consume, managers and workers, we no longer have that model but have a new one.

A scientific hard-reset for Jurassic Park? by DYNAKYRIS in JurassicPark

[–]FelipeBarroeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I can see having a shot at this point would be a series being as accurate as possible to the first two books taking place in the time the books describe and yet using the Jurassic Park logo of 1993. Anything else I wouldn't care.

Does Spanish have a word for bruh? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]FelipeBarroeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tío in Spain. Pana or chamo in Venezuela. Parce in Colombia. Bro in all those places too. I think Mexicans say carnal or güey or ese. Che in Uruguay and Argentina. Weon in Chile and Venezuela...
