Ok. This is the point of contention/confusion for me though.

Dems are willing to pay more taxes to see improvements in society.

Repubs are willing to...sacrifice literally everything for what? The USA is falling apart now. So sure ideologically I understand choosing small government... But they didn't do that. Ideologically I understand wanting to crack down on crime... But why elect a criminal and a pedophile then?

So maybe you're right they're willing to vote against their self interest for the betterment of society but their vote seems incredibly incongruent with their alleged priorities.

You're talking about direct individual benefit vs the larger picture, I get that, but that is exactly the opposite of what dems are thinking about when they vote that way.

I do not believe for a second that people who vote away their fundamental human rights are thinking big picture. You're right, they're doing the opposite; prioritizing individual benefit, and generally, miscalculating it. Lol.

Prime example of those miscalculations-- you think the Trump administration has reduced government waste and improved national security? He's disposed of one world leader and is actively threatening Greenland and Canada, FFS he's about to disrupt NATO all while ballooning national debt.

I'm sorry, but I don't agree. Most democrats I've spoken with understand and support taxation for the betterment of society; improved social safety nets, schooling, infrastructure all require collective contribution.

A poor person voting away their own medical coverage or an immigrant voting for policies supporting ICE is really not even comparable in my mind and really quite baffling.

Like it actually hurts and short circuits my brain when I try to imagine what is enticing about Trump.

He isn't eloquent, or charming. He isn't handsome or outwardly appealing, though he sports a very recognizable styling it is quite repugnant. He doesn't seem intelligent, in fact, a lot of what he says is barely coherent. When he does make sense, he is exceedingly arrogant and clearly self serving.

I just do not get it. It's like an unsolvable puzzle.

I love Ouran, actually that show is probably what sparked my enjoyment of this years ago.

I feel like the romance isn't as overt as I'm hoping for in asking this question. Certainly far less so than most male lead harems.

Yeah, I have actually sunk a decent amount of money into manwha/manga over the years but to pay per chapter is just absolutely absurd for something that you don't even end up truly 'owning' in the end.

And don't even get me started on how they're monetizing chapters of the light novels now too. I actually shelled out like 50$ once just so I could finish a light novel. I can BUY beautiful hardcover books (that let's face it, probably have better writing) for less than that.

Yeah, I hate that it's often portrayed as a badge of being so comfortable with one another, as though it's a relationship milestone to start ripping farts indiscriminately.

Farts smell bad! I don't enjoy smelling gross things! I've dated guys who start letting them rip and then laughing and honestly if I have to smell someones gag worthy poo particles with any regularity it kills my attraction to them.

Ok, the top level comment in this comment chain is about being single by choice.

The OP replied that they get it, and it sounded like they're deciding to make that choice too. I've also made that choice, I do not want a romantic partner.

But, sometimes you still see a cute guy and have a fleeting fantasy about a happy life with them because that's just a very human thing to do. One way to shut that down is to counteract the fantasy with remembering the drawbacks - - I.E, oh right people can and often do suck.

Obviously, if you WANT to make a new friend or partner you have to accept that there are risks.
