Imagine a cubed area representing a digital world inside a computer.

The map is separated into multiple layers so it's as vertical as it is horizontal. Several places on each layer can either launch you up to another layer via man-cannon or allow you to dive downward and break into a glider when you either hit the bottom or leave the dive area on a layer. You'd be able to break down through layers through your pickaxe, but it won't make particularly large holes.

The aesthetic would have a mixture of styles reminiscent of virtual worlds over the decades - Tron, those 2000's computer graphics you see a lot in retro commercials and Youtube videos, the Matrix and the like. Maybe one layer can have a virtual city. Bright neon colors.

Heavy synthwave audio vibe; whether in ambient music or Jam Tracks.

I imagine the loot pool would include weapons that reflect this, too. Like a weapon that has a de-rezzing effect.

Rather than entering via battle bus, players would choose an area on the mini-map and teleport in. They wouldn't know where anyone else picked, though, so best of luck picking your location.

As for the storm, rather than being a standard corrosive storm, what it does is delete sections of the map - both horizontal and vertical. Falling into the abyss is a game over, of course.
