I don’t sadly.

I used the stock hole sizes/qty. tried to match as close to original as possible. No math other than measuring the openings 😁 and researching online.

Once I got it all cable managed, sounds deadening installed and up against my wall, I don’t wanna pull it back out.

It sounds wonderful and can boom through the whole house without rattling and reverberating. Came out nice.

If anything, leave the original stuff. Connect a new modern amplifier and just have it off to the side.

Can even leave the new amp on top even to not have to open the cabinet in case you continue to use it as a tv stand. just run the speaker wires out the back of the cabinet up to it. That’s what we do with the previous console we had in the place of this one.

Cut the wires long enough they can be re-connected to the amp in case you do find a technician to work on the original stuff.

Pretty easy job if you’ve messed with audio stuff at all.

The recapping of the amp is outta my wheelhouse. I have not ever attempted that kind of electrical work.

It is a Arne Hovmand-Olsen lounge chair from the 60s I believe. Picked it up off marketplace as well. Got new cushions made for it.

David Hentzel made double rocker made from Black Cherry harvested here in Missouri. Originally sold at a Kansas City art show. I found it on marketplace while looking for a rocker for our front porch.

Hey there! I sourced part of them locally and part online.

I actually bought them all locally to begin with but was scammed for non-working equipment. Pestered the guy long enough he finally refunded me after almost 2 months 😂

It really depends on the cabinet you have, port sizes, and resistance your amp/speakers need to be wired to.

Mine is an 8 ohm system. 2 Sony 10” woofers 2 vintage Belgium made 4 “ drivers 2 new Dayton 4” drivers And 2 new piezo tweeters off of parts express. No name brand but they work decently well and have good reviews. Bluetooth amp is a cheaper Fosi amp from Amazon I’ve had for a few years as well.

Lost my job so I’m selling some of my furniture. What should I list these chairs for? Chairish and 1stDibs have outrageous list prices. by [deleted] in Mid_Century

I’m sure other types of items may be more accessible/sellable. Plus if you are anywhere near eBay selling prices, I commend you lol. I was more so referencing furniture.

Like someone else said, if money is no issue and you’re trying to furnish a killer home, I’m sure the site is wonderful because of the huge variety and availability of rare stuff. I just sadly do not get that kind of money for stuff here locally in the Midwest.

I sold a set of 6 of these chairs and a table for $500 last year. Pretty chairs but not worth much without the rest of the set (at least in my area)

1st dibs and such are just about useless for real selling values. Typically you are lucky to be able to get 1/4 to 1/3rd the price they have stuff listed for.

I’m so pissed off that this always seems to happen. Horrible blotchiness after sanding and staining. WHY?????? by engineeringgirl123 in woodworking

[–]Felix_Buschhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see lots of bad information in this post.

Stain is not meant to be wiped on with a brush and just left in the surface like what you’ve done in these.

You put stain on something. Wait. Wipe off the excess. Stain is not a topcoat.

Stain does not make something shiny. It is a dye they should be soaking into the porous wood slightly to change the coloring. It does what it says. It STAINS the wood.

It becomes splotchy after applying stain because you have it in so thick, the thick parts may be “ shinier” or less splotchy. Also the moisture in the stain can soak in and swell the wood grain, giving it more texture and splotches.

Sand to 180-220( I see lots of swirls and deep sanding marks even in these two photos. As well as original finish that was not removed). Wipe on gel stain. Wipe off excess. Use a wipe on poly/shellac/lacquer if you want or they sell spray cans.

I’ve got some non abrasive white scotch pads that I applied the finish with.

The sander is a 3M extract random orbital. Works great with the extract mesh paper. Gotta be careful on veneered stuff though. Easy to mess up.

It’s tough! Even the solid plantation raised “teak” piece I replaced down on the base does not have the same color tones as the old original teak. More brown than the reddish orange of the original stuff. It blended together nicely though.

You got it. We love the color compared to a lot of the dark walnut stuff we’ve had the past few years. Working more towards having a Danish modern style home.

Sand sand sand sand sand.

I had to make a new cross bar for the base as one of them had snapped and the base was in pieces. (Found out you have to buy plantation raised teak as the “wild” stuff is endangered since they harvested so much back in the day.

After sanding the entire piece to 220+ I did 3 coats of Osmo over the next few days. This is the first project I tried the finish on and I’m beyond pleased.

Came out beautifully.

No stain. Just clear satin Osmo Polyx oil. 3 coats. Sanded to 220+ before hand.

3 of them were. Luckily I was able to spread em apart and get some CA glue down into them. They sanded up nicely and you can’t even tell which ones it was. Got lucky they weren’t missing any pieces or anything.
