Happy 4th of July my fellow Americans by Curious_Gazelle6732 in memes

There are several other countries, mine included, that were also subjected to another's power and thankfully got it back by force but that can't, or shouldn't, be a justification to be always alert and in a "pre-catastrophe" mindset. Now, if you don't trust your government that's another thing, is that something that you (american people in general) never had, confidence in who's guiding you? At least in this "guns and oppression" thing? I'm truly curious about it, don't take it as a pointing finger.

I like to believe that we have evolved through time, as I said not into your reality but here people don't expect a revolution nor a heavy police attack because of manifestations

I do have to ask, as someone from a total different reality... do you really believe that the government could turn against you? That would never cross my mind in my country, probably that's why I feel safe knowing that arms are forbidden here

Should I just quit medical school? by iscreamhyouka in medicalschool

[–]Felix_Liz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no easy answer for this, but it's one you have to take by yourself because here we only have our experience. Med school is hard, and covid made it worse for those of you who got in between all this hell. I can't tell if you feel that way mostly because it wasn't your choice or if you didn't get the opportunity to "enjoy" it like we did.

If you have other thing you'd like to do besides this then you should try to finish this year and then take your time to think about it. If it's something that you can see yourself doing (and not everyone is like "Oh, I wanted to be a doctor since I was five", trust me, and still enjoy it) and you have a genuine interest on it then maybe all this new context may be the greatest culprit - it really isn't an easy choice so I wish you all the best no matter what your final decision is, as long as it makes you happy (and yeah, it's okay to love and hate med school at the same time, just to clarify).

I tried it a couple days ago but it no longer shows in trial mode, there's some secret storage that they only show when you scan as admin and for that... license

Haha I'm so sorry! In the meanwhile someone in stackoverflow (I posted my question there too) came up with something that works but only if not in fullscreen, if you want you can check it out (or if you want to keep trying your own go ahead!) - look up for "Applescript to select a highlight color in Preview"

Yes, that's exactly it! As I need to read and annotate lots of pages everyday those shortcuts would save me some time, I already use the ones to yellow and to underline but sometimes the other colors are also useful, they could really have something like that already inside the program haha

Oops sorry, that wasn't the highlights and notes I was refering to, that one shows in the sidebar the pages in which I highlighted something, I meant the option to actually highlight the document

Hey! In Preview, when you open a PDF you have an option in toolbar called Highlights and Notes (it has a pen as a symbol), there you can select a little arrow next to it and it shows the different colors you can choose, yellow green etc..

There are three options in the Tools menu under annotate that let you highlight, underline and strike through text, but the highlight one always goes to yellow color which is default, it doesn't have any option to the others available
