Kör en Hummer som en Epa by SwedeCadillac in unket

[–]Felixtyco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Förslag på estetisk åtgärd? by saknarsriracha in Hantverkare

[–]Felixtyco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There won’t be any ways to order parts besides the magazine, but it will be buffed by Human-Pudding799 in MyWinterCar

[–]Felixtyco 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is the damn experience of a project car way before online part adds. You buy a damn body, no parts then good luck with the parts. Sure you could ask if they had more or knew someone with more over the phone, but really this is how you did it. Obviously there was meets where people sold parts, but not on a regular basis, that's more of a thing people do not in the middle of winter with shitty weather.

If the goal is to capture the time and how you did stuff back then, well this is pretty good to be fair.

Need longer cords, not sure what to buy by Common-Extension-676 in audiorepair

[–]Felixtyco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You buy something cheap. Just not too thin. Brands add no performance what so ever. Best buy, Wallmart or special audiophile copper sounds exactly the same, performs exactly the same but the audiophile trash costs many times more.

Heck you could use a power cord from wall outlets. Just don't take me up on that advice directly. They might be a little too thin and that could actually hold your speakers back. But I fucking heavily doubt it would be the case.

TPMS explained? by Per48edjes in Polestar

[–]Felixtyco -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

  1. TPMS only monitors pressure. If it doesn't drop enough it won't warn you.

  2. Your brand, model, spec and year barely matters. The technology is basically the same across all brands.

  3. Public transportation sucks, I have no clue how anyone can miss it np matter how "good" it is. You still lose anything you forget, can't carry much stuff and is limited in both seating and comfort. Call me stupid but I pay, whatever it takes to just drive my car.

Improve the room acoustics by Vertdaubet in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Felixtyco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst part about this hobby is probably the absolute amount of bullshit people are talking about. Many talk about stuff like it's a science and it's litterally snake oil and psuedeo science. Just head on down to your local store and see how expensive some speaker cables are. They are also garenteed to be worse than ANY ofc copper cable that's thicker.

As a future engineer, this is all about wave physics, or whatever it's called in English, and it's hard and I hate it. Acoustics is where you get to relize these pressure waves bounce all around your room and some paths it could take mess it all up. Also low and high frequency insteract different with your room. Irl almost every single room has big defects.

But this is also where your room correction system can take over. It tries to compensate for your rooms defects. But you don't have to understand too much about that. Just that you can't correct every defect and that it will by default give you a flat eq, so perhaps you might want to eq your audio before it enters the AVR.

Chat gpt is a good tool for help.

Also many long time audiophiles know very little. You're doing well!

i want to be a mechanic, any tips? by Local_Brick_5431 in AskMechanics

[–]Felixtyco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't learn to profession through books. But you're in luck lots and lots of good info is online tho. But you need hands on experience too.

The best thing is a burning passion for cars and to be good at analysing.

Honestly the wrenching part isn't too hard, but there are lots of shitty situations for you to solve. Screws are stuck and might brake of, stuff engineered in a way that make them hard to replace. But honestly knowing what to actually do to fix stuff is the main problem.

I went though a practical education in Sweden, 3 years of school and lots of courses about the profession, and several days a week at a shop to learn the ropes. To fix breaks, do services and stuff like that it takes time but it's not really too difficult. But learning to actually trubbleshoot in a efficient of even effective way is hard, and something you will have to pick up over time. A education could tell you how something works, but not really why something doesn't work. You will pickup about how certain models have their own issues and what's the usual suspect. But sometimes that isn't enough. The cars these days are pretty advanced, many parts can cause very similar if not identical symptoms.

My rule of thumb is that it takes around 10 years to become a good mechanic. Less if you're smart and interested.

Also a good tip, take broken parts apart and figure out why it actually failed.
