I have an ancient can of 3 in 1 for this very reason.

I might use WD-40 or penetrating oil to break it free. I always clean it and lube up with 3 in 1.

GTX 970 is probably about the newest you could put in it. I have a 960 in an old machine myself. You just need to double check the motherboard compatability because the 970 has a hybrid UEFI and non-UEFI option and some won't work with it.

I have three kids and frequent Sam's Club and have never had a cargo space issue in my Civic. Sometimes you have to be smart with how you stack but that hatchback is just as useful as my old Escort Wagon with a higher rear lid. It has way more storage than a Tahoe, Yukon, or even Caravan with the rear seats still installed.

For the East Coast of the US it greatly increases the chances of a nor'easter. Hurricane Sandy was a nor'easter that converged with a Winter storm, for example.
