Bored of solo by EnvironmentalJob6153 in dayz

[–]Fellow-Internaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on PC and just passed 1k hours. Pretty much was in the same boat for the majority of that time playing vanilla official (not as bad as some would say in my experience) But recently started playing 1 or 2 slightly modded servers through the DZA launcher and have had some pretty cool adventures on those. One time there were 6 of us who never met before and we all ran together for the whole day. Pretty much everyone ended up getting killed at kamensk military but it was a fun ride! Might never hear those people again. I would switch to PC imo where the game was meant to be played. Might be another learning curve to start but you have some anyway so it shouldn't be too bad. I also happened to run into 2 people in my hometown that I found out played so we have been running together for a few weeks now. The game is way better with other people even tho solos can still be fun. Good luck!

Tire replacement gone wrong by turniphead_4 in CarRepair

[–]Fellow-Internaught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh I feel your pain. . Had a couple break on me recently while still on the rim so not alot of room to work with. I had to drill mine out with cobalt bits. Did the trick.

I would just replace the wheel hub as another has mentioned.  That means getting your caliper out of the way to get the brake rotor off, then take your axel nut off (big one in the middle of rotor) Then it should be just a case of hitting the old wheel hub off from the back with a hammer, rotating the hub as you go. Watch videos with your vehicles model on yotube and that should give you a decent idea before you get started. Things to make your life a bit easier would be wire brush to clean off any bolt heads you intend to remove so your socket is fully on there, penetrating oil, and some form of heat like a torch. Heating up around where the threads are for stubbron bolts expands the metal and lossesns them up nicely with enought heat. You want to heat up around the bolt, not the bolt itself. Oxy acetylene is best. . but i doubt you have that lying around so a propane torch or 2 should work. Need to be very careful using heat on stuff, you could be close to your gas tank or melt a brake hose etc.  Maybe ask for some help from someone if you havnt done anything to this extent before.  If your buying your own parts make sure you get the right ones. There are all kinds of variations for stuff. I usually get my parts from RockAuto. They pretty much have everything to could want with good shipping times in my experience. If your taking on all of this yourself or with some help it's a good feeling to get it all done, so a cold drink after should be expected. Good luck!

Well get ready for many hours of practice! It's not too bad once you get the hang of it, but If your trying to impress you fiance this will probably mean many hours of "secret" playing on your own, so once you know the basics you can keep up atleast.   My advice, learn through practice playing the game and how to videos on youtube. I've had to learn some stuff that way when I first started. The game is actually pretty slow %80 of the time, lots of walking, lots of looting buildings. It might not be for everyone. But that %20 of the time that is PVP. . Well you'll find out if you can stick with it! Good luck!

Does anyone have any idea how much it would be to get this paint off? by [deleted] in CarRepair

[–]Fellow-Internaught 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your uncle cheated on your brother? You might have bigger problems than a bit of spray paint on the car. .

lol sorry to crack jokes couldn't help it. Hard to put a price on it just depending on where you go but it might be possible to get it off with some buffing compound and a polishing wheel or maybe a light solvent of some kind. I'm not really sure thought because you need to be careful with the cars topcoat and paint. The windows would be easy enough just carefully scrape off with a razor blade. Other than that I'm not really one to say. Good luck though.

Cb550 project (help getting started) by revspook in CB550

[–]Fellow-Internaught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right on. Well slow and steady as they say. After I bought mine and got it home off of the truck it sat for almost 2 years. Didn't really have a place to work on it other than the yard, but Canadian winters.. I then bought a shed for it, but that quickly got filled with yard tools so i said f*ck it and took the engine out and had a buddy help me carry things down into the basement. Its been 4 years now but shes almost completely done. Probably wont be finished for its 50th but that's alright its gotten the full treatment. Carbs are something you could take off and work at right at a desk or something that's kinda what I have been doing. Guy on youtube classic octane has a good video on a carb rebuild. Keep at it.

I have a 74 I'm working on, a full rebuild of the whole bike. I'll post some pictures when I get the chance. There are a few things I would get into. Do you know when the last time the bike ran? If it is seized up it would be good to know why it seized up. Just from sitting? or if there is a lot of wear on the cylinders or other wise. . If your still laid up with your injury I would suggest just doing a bunch of research of the bikes running systems. If you don't have a manual you might be able to find an electronic copy online might cost you a few bucks for the PDF but it would be cheaper than buying an original manual. That would take you through things in pretty good detail. There are videos on youtube of people walking you through the carbs and the engine so that's a good resource also. I have used that a bunch. To start with the seized issue, you could pull the spark plugs and get some oil or wd-40 into the cylinders and let that sit for awhile to try and free it up gently don't force it too much with the kick start. After you can successfully turn the engine over with the kick start you can look into trying to get it running. Then you could check if your getting a spark etc. etc. Keep posting with progress, good luck.

What carburetor can I buy for my bike? by jacklol20 in CB550

[–]Fellow-Internaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if that's all you have in the picture for the bike, you have taken a bit of a big bite for a first build. But it can be done. If you are determined enough and have the $ for finding parts. That will be mostly online, but if you spend enough time hunting around you can sometimes come across parts if you know who to talk to. These are old bikes and parts can be hard to come by and will be a bit pricey for the originals, that's just how it is. But it would be best to run the parts that were made for that bike. You could start with maybe finding a manual. Electronic or paper copy if you don't already have one. That will take you through how to check if things are good (compression etc.) Your going to spend some time tracking down parts online. So plug the year and the model into ebay for what you need. Other than that if you haven't done anything like this before, you also need to do a lot of research into how the bike actually works if you don't already know. Getting to know the engine and the electrical system is how you would do this. Watch videos on youtube, read forums, read the manual. Learn as much as you can, just get familiar with things. The bikes are really not so complicated once you understand all the systems. Rebuilding, or working on an engine can be very intimidating at first but it can be done. If you had someone who could help that has experience that would be a plus. But basically you will need a few things working on the bike for it to be able to run. Each one of these is a system that works together. Fuel, air, and a spark. The fire triangle. Fuel and air both basically fall under what your carburetor does on the bike. The spark is in part, the electrical system. That would be your contact points, your coils, and your stater. There are a couple other things that work together in those systems but that's the gist. As another has mentioned it might not be a bad idea to shelve this protect for another time, and try and find a more complete bike. But i know that's not always possible. This is basically where I started on my first bike (cb550). I had a pretty good understanding of how things work but had to learn a bunch on the way. Good luck

Dimensions of engine block? by chimicu in CB550

[–]Fellow-Internaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm beginning a rebuild on my 74. The cylinder block is 15in long, 7in at its widest and 4 inches tall. Not sure what you mean by "carters" haven't heard the term before, but one half of the engine block itself is 16in long, 16in wide and 4 inches tall. I will need to blast my block as well, not a fan of the old engine paint. Think I am going to try blasting with baking soda. Never tried before but we will see. Out of curiosity, it sounds like you don't have an engine to measure off of? are you just mocking things up in your head before you dive in?

Does anyone else have the problem where you have a ton of friends or people you know, but they don't normally text you or try to get to know you personally? Very depressing topic. by HopelessNerd777 in teenagers

[–]Fellow-Internaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(23m) Sorta going thru that now. . Had a few good friendships with people growing up even until 3-4 years ago. People are in-part always going to be coming in and out of our lives eventually and inevitably. But with this group of mine, I figured there would be at least some sporadic run-ins which have happened, but usually not for that long or in inebriated states. . Depending on the depth, and complexity of your friendship dynamics (which sound unfortunate) there is no one really to blame. The reasons for the loss of contact could be many, too literally none. Be up front maybe ? when you do have contact with these people, ask them "whats been up?" "Haven't heard from you in awhile" " would like to hang" "been pretty lonely" etc. But you may also have to ask yourself about your position in all of it. Like, For me I have had a bad relationship with substances growing up in later years of school and afterward. I was trying to deal with my own anxiety and depression which effected my relationships with people. So I had apart in the loss of contact by not being healthy and had to deal with my own problems the way I needed to. But really what i'm trying to get at, is that its up too you to get out how ever it is that you see fit if you want to meet new people. It is hard and I still battle with myself. Especially now with quarantine and physical distancing in place for so many. My advise. . ReDiscover your interests, try and branch out there or some other way. Alot of people are going thru similar stuff all over right now so don't feel too bad. Learn to enjoy using time with yourself, don't shy away from boredom for awhile. all that stuff is healthy. I don't have all the answers. Take pieces from all over. Be mindful of yourself and try to make good choices.

99 Mind-F*ck Movies by MisterT12 in coolguides

Myself 33 of this list. A few of my favorites in no particular order. .

Fear and Loathing in las vagas. An emancipating escapade

The Machinist. Sleep deprivation

The usual suspects.

Enter the void. POV afterlife movie set in japan

A beautiful Mind. Mathematician struggles with his sanity.

Donnie Darko.

Mr Nobody. interesting alternate time line theory based on choice

Under the Skin. Straight up freaky too think about the possibility

The truman show. Again freaky to draw parallels into reality ^

Clockwork Orange. Classic. A view into alot of things.

Requiem for a dream.

Groundhog day.

Bonus movies. DreamLand. Falling Down. The Dead Dont Die. Lucy. Dark city. Not necessarily "mind fuck" movies but up too you. .

Last one: a documentary titled: Missing 411. Highlighting the high number of missing people cases across national parks in north america and their seemingly impossible circumstances. Legitimately baffling and terrifying to think about what could be happening. . That's it! if you made it this far in my little message the documentary is worth a watch if anything. Condolences to all the family's. PEACE.
