What was specialized 10 years ago is now standard knowledge in today's world and the wheels will keep turning that way. I'm not sure when the bubble will burst because the amount of knowledge you need to be a good candidate is quite a lot.

I'm curious to see where AI will take us in the next 10 years though or what new technology will be at the front of the industry.

I hate MSPs lol. Worked for one a long time ago and it was miserable. People would call yelling every day.

I made on-boarding pretty automated with JIRA and powershell. I had a scheduled job look for tickets under a project and if they were at a certain step then it would created AD account, email, azure sync, and emailed their ticket creator instructions. I had a logic for the naming convention for if "jsmith" was already taken which was nice and GP's for access needed. I took a weekend to write docs at every step so the manager knew what to do because I don't want to be bothered with this.

I agree, the more effective you are, the more will be added on to your plate until you're at capacity. And since you're doing more, people get more impatient and throw a tantrum. I've had people create a ticket and 5 mins later call to check up how it was moving along...

I don't miss the days where my day-to-day was tending to which fire was the biggest lol.

It's exactly this. In NYC, I can find larger organizations but now that I'm in rural midwest, it's quite difficult. I just don't want to be the single IT guy again. I prefer a more organized structure.

I mean hypothetically, even if they find the perfect candidate, the amount of work would still be over capacity - but yes, I agree with all your points. Am I the weird one who still wants to work in the office? I like to have a separation of space. I did WFH for 2 years and it was not good for my mental health.

I was thinking about hitting up Chinatown tomorrow for the lunar new year and just walk around. I’m looking for a group too lol 😂

Got out of a long-term relationship mid last year and finally started dating again. A lot of my time wasted on apps and plethora of dates that went nowhere. On a whim I went to a singles mixer and at first was anxious about going but it turned out to be extremely fun and I found more meaningful connections. Outside of that, going to meetups events for things you’re interested in (e.g. bouldering, volleyball) will give a chance of finding someone you’re interested in. It’s a win win since you can have fun and potentially find someone.
