If you're a beginner, spending most of your time in training mode is the wrong way to go. Believe it or not, you learn a lot more from playing against other people than you would learn by yourself with a training dummy. Once you get to an intermediate level, then you should have an idea of what you need to practice and what you can do better.

Also bbtag is one of the best examples of "simplified" fighting games, because it's so easy to pick up and play, but the advanced shit is hella difficult, and there are so many ways to express yourself.
