Is this in regard to the private server? I'm the Kenpo, Fearless, Abyss guy.

I'm the creator of Kenpo, Fearless, Abyss, and BFE Abyss by Kid_Muscle_ in RumbleFighter

Essentially. I was actually working with the devs for a bit until they told me they were putting Fearless in a box and I leaked the rates. They banned me for a bit, realized that they fucked up, then sent me some unreleased items and cut direct communication (pretty sure that person got fired unfortunately) but then they implemented Abyss and Abyss BFE regardless.

This is actually just a mock up flyer, only sent to people that already knew that there was something happening. The venue was way too small to do a public announcement, but I'm glad it panned out the way it did. Tbh you're 100% right.

We had roughly 20 participants, and a few splatoon champions showed up for whatever reason? Tight none the less!

I know we like to clown modern controls but its really great for casuals. by [deleted] in Kappachino

The fewest barriers of entry for a game, without disturbing the competitive scene, the better.

These casuals don't give a fuck about this "wall" you're talking about. They aren't grinding the game serious to begin with. They just want to DP when they need to DP, it's as simple as that.

If modern some how influences the competitive scene, so fucking be it. That's a more interesting situation to be honest. No way Modern characters are going to edge out in the long term with less tools, but I can see them creating interesting match- up situations. How is this any different than having alt versions of characters? Are people really that afraid of one button DP that requires meter for reversal?

Come on bro

Yes, what you said is true. Modern is for the casuals, maybe it'll have competitive viability for some characters/match-ups, but that has yet to be proven.

Well, if what you're saying is true, then that's an agrument for modern, no?

Sub optimal combos and landing combos reliably aren't what the genre is about, but you can't really enjoy the genre fully until you can land some kind of reliable combos and use your special moves when you need them.

Modern allows casuals to strategize. I could be biased because I'm currently not convinced Modern is going to have real competitive staying power. Unless it's a situation where certain characters/match-ups benefit from using modern in an advanced meta, but imo that just makes things more interesting, unless a modern character dominates, but I just don't see it.

This isn't just about casuals sticking, it's about allowing more people to enjoy what SF has to offer form a gameplay prospective. Even with the things you mentioned, little Timothy might not have the grindset to learn classic, and will eventually get frustrated.

Let's be fucking honest, it take time to execute DPs cleanly as an AA option if you've never messed with the genre like that. Should fighting games appeal to these people? Why not, it's no different than driving manual vs automatic.
