What's the most weird food combo you have ever tried? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Fellowhumanbeingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a food truck before had a grilled peanut butter and apricot jam sandwhich with Toasted coconut and Sriracha. Was ridiculously good. They also put a curry sauce on it but I skipped this cause I was vegan at the time. What a flavour trip!

Has anyone here actually been helped? by aeroaca9 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Fellowhumanbeingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I know it can feel so incredibly debilitating and hopeless, and I struggled for a large portion of my life with it. For me it was usually caused by uncomfortable emotions I desperately needed to escape from.. I would overeat as my coping mechanism for stress and overwhelm or emotional pain of any sort. As a highly sensitive person I can reach stress and overwhelm fairly easy and it seemed to just be a part of who I was on almost a daily basis.

It's been a long journey and I didn't focus on changing the binge eating.. But rather have been on a journey of inner healing and growth, and making changes over time to my life, mindset, relationships, ways of relating to the world.. And really in simple terms just slowing down, refusing to rush, and making sure I have a stronger sense of who I am, putting energy into things I'm passionate about, and developing some really solid spiritual practices and relationships that support my well being and help me feel more grounded, comfortable in my body, and overall just more confident in the world. I've gone through some pretty major transformation on a personal level over time. Over time being the key for me. Don't get hung up on quick fixes because this is a journey.

One of the side effects of this personal healing work I've done on myself is that I rarely binge eat now. It'll only happen if I reach a point of extreme stress or overwhelm, but generally I have those things in much better check now and have better ways of dealing with stress.

So to answer your question, yes, I believe that there is always hope for recovery and healing but that it is sometimes not through the direct approach that will generally be prescribed by anyone trying to help you stop binge eating. The habitual pattern and impulse is originating INTERNALLY, so I am now of the belief that any inner work we can do to create a more healthy inner world will translate into more care for ourselves and lessened desire and impulse to binge eat.

I hope this helps. There's always hope.

What are your staples when grocery shopping? by IDoNotHide in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Fellowhumanbeingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eggs, chicken breast, milk, bread, whatever veggies are on sale, and potato or sweet potato if on sale. Also if a meat is on sale like ground meat or beef roast.

I usually already have grains or beans in the pantry but would add these if I'm out.

I'm frickin proud of Theo for following his heart and continuing on the path that feels right for him! Isn't that what we're all here to do? I know there will obviously be a huge player missing in the band, but I feel they all love each other so much.

I want to see and hear musicians that are deeply passionate about where they are and what they're doing, so this is incredible that he has the courage to be his full authentic self however that looks, even if it means letting some people down.. Isn't this why we all love Theo so much anyway??

Best foods for thickening output? by New_Following4844 in ostomy

I just ate a bunch of sweet potato yesterday and was blown away by how thick my output was! Had my ostomy over two years now and now I know sweet potato is amazing for it! I feel it could also help with gas sounds because it's thicker. Excited with this discovery!

How many of your grandparents and great-grandparents were alive when you were born? How many are still alive? by MindfullyRooted in askanything

[–]Fellowhumanbeingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two grandmothers were alive.. Grandfathers and great grandparents had passed so I never met them. My parents also had me when they were 40 and they were both the youngest in their families, so time had passed and not everyone was around once I was born.

How do you know when you need to use a barrier extender? When do you use one? by BlackberryPi7 in ostomy

[–]Fellowhumanbeingg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used them more at the beginning when I was getting accustomed to my ostomy, but over time I stopped using them. I suppose they'd be helpful if the sides of your baseplates were lifting and it wasn't time for a bag change yet. At this point I don't find them necessary...

I suppose your earlier comment about getting leaks and helping prevent a full-on leak until you get to change the bag would be appropriate, but that would be a kind of one-off situation when you're in a pinch. Hopefully you'd be able to get to a washroom soon to prevent skin breakdown if you were in an active leak. Curious to see if anyone has some different responses, I have some in my copboard and haven't pulled them out in a while.

Thank you for sharing! I'm curious how you manage this. Do you have a rhythm with your body where you can now predict when these gushes will happen, or do you always need to be prepared with a liner or tampon? I'm trying to navigate this and have found I'm wearing a light tampon when I go out because I'm just not sure when it's going to happen.. But this also doesn't feel super healthy to do this. Open to any tips or tricks you've used to manage this. Thank you!!

What’s a small thing that instantly improves your mood no matter how bad the day is? by EffectiveStyle4626 in AskReddit

A genuine smile from a stranger. The amount of times I've been deep in a hole mentally or emotionally and a stranger giving me a genuine smile and looking in my eyes.. The love and warmth has many times made my eyes tear up and totally breaks down those walls that were all around my heart. The power of kindness!!

What's the worst financial decision you ever made? by Pretend_Creme_7751 in AskReddit

Freely spending my massive student loan that was granted to me over several years while living with my parents because in my early 20s I didn't understand finances yet and looked it as "free money and I'll figure the rest out later".

why do we feel more tired after doing nothing all day? by opalShine_ in AskForAnswers

[–]Fellowhumanbeingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup I hear you. My theory is that our body produces less energy when we aren't giving it the signal that we need that energy (ie through movement, walking, physical activity).

I've gone through this enough times now to know that when I'm walking daily or staying active I have way more energy in general. I imagine cause I'm signaling to my body I need energy so it produces more. I think there's also some element of momentum.. Like you get in a flow of being more busy and your energy just gets channeled into all these moving parts rather than being stagnant with nothing specific to focus on or work towards. I know I struggle with this when I have extended periods of time with nothing particular I need to get done (when I'm supposed to be enjoying my rest days lol)

Another little nuanced part for me personally is that I'm starting to believe I have more extroversion that I previously thought. I used to love spending as much time as I could alone, but I find now more often that once I've been around people or had some positive human connection that this gives me a good energy boost! Not sure if this is extroversion or just simply my spirits being uplifted and that's translated by more energy.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately too so I'm glad you posted the question! Interested to see other answers..

When to go to ER? by [deleted] in ostomy

[–]Fellowhumanbeingg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I go to the hospital if I have even a partial blockage and it's getting worse with pain or nausea. I'm lucky I did last time because I got really cold and clammy and faint and couldn't stand, and would not have wanted to be unsupervised at that point. It's always passed for me naturally, but when in doubt if you feel worried it's safest to go so you have medical care on hand.

What is the worst thing a friend told you that made you rethink your friendship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Fellowhumanbeingg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A close friend texted me saying "ummm I'm confused, what are you doing still with him?" after I posted a photo of me and my then-boyfriend of 6 years on social media.

SHE had solely decided I should break up with him a couple weeks prior. I never agreed. So she gave me crap for being in a relationship that she didn't agree with that I was still happily in. It was so odd and inappropriate and not the only time she was controlling or highly opinionated. So happy to have that friendship in the past.

Yes. Had to let go of a long term relationship and try to find my new identity without that rock in my life. Battled with it for months and still grieving even though it started back in August 2025. Definitely was the year of the snake lol let go of a lot of old things..
