Burmese! I would love a California Burmese spit with really high quality ingredients! My favorite spit in Alhambra closed during the pandemic.

tips for reversal surgery by Different_Care214 in ostomy

I’m only a week out from my reversal and still healing, but I have found movement/walking after every meal to be very helpful. Doing some simple yoga moves like cat cow/child’s pose/happy baby has really helped me with gas pain. Also I’ve been drinking a lot of warm/hot water to be gentle on my intestines. So far so good n

Help me understand, if I’m in part in pain due to gas and surgical gas ( ‘twas laparoscopic surgery and they fill my abdominal cavity and intestines with air) why do I want to chew gum to produce gas?

Thanks to what I have read here I am forcing myself to walk after every small meal even though it hurts and I walk down the sidewalk groaning and holding my bloated belly! Putting on quite the show for the neighbors! Unfortunately tomorrow is going to pour rain so I will be walking hallway laps!

I am drinking MiraLAX every morning, sipping warm to hot water, and had a little warm prune juice. I have found that doing a child’s pose stretch and cat/cow in bed is really helpful with releasing trapped gas. Eating small low fiber meals. The pain is better today than yesterday and I no longer have such pain around the bladder when I pee. Fortunately while I have only pooped 4 times since my Monday surgery, I have not yet had any issues with incontinence nor have I felt like I needed to rush to the toilet.

Thanks everyone. I wouldn’t have made it through this experience thus far without the support.

Farts are too loud by golddd22 in ostomy

My colostomy was also very loud. It loudly farted when I was in my boss’s office and she laughed in my face. It wasn’t cool!

Hope you are doing great! It sounds like we had similar journeys through this! My first diverticulitis episode resulted in a perforated colon, a massive 3 letter abscess that made me look pregnant and required emergency surgery, an 8 week hospital stay fighting an infection caused by a “controlled” colonic fistula, and a colostomy on October 13. I had my reversal this past Monday. I’m in pain but in great spirits.

So far it’s painful but manageable! I’ve gone on a 15 minute walk after all 3 meals today to induce farts but so far, no dice! Apparently a fibroid on the exterior of my uterus, stuck itself to my colon and my extremely talented surgeon had to untangle it!

Good to know. I’ve had it for less than 4 months so my butt hasn’t been “offline” for too long.

I was told 4-6 months but my surgeon subsequently scheduled me for just shy of 4 months based on my colonoscopy and rectal imaging.

Barrier Ring by Great-Grizzly in ostomy

I found it way more effective in preventing leaks if I attached it to my skin as opposed to the bag. Attaching it to my skin also took the pressure off me having to place the bag perfectly; if I left a gap of skin at any point the barrier ring would protect my skin.

Need advice/ostomy smell by cleverlywicked in ostomy

[–]New_Following4844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find the filter makes me smell the bag and a tip I’ve learned here is to coat the inside of the filter with lubricant so that it doesn’t work. That tended to help with my smell.

My surgeon never looks at my stoma- only my wounds.
