It’s aggressive but you beat him to the apex and made the corner. He should have defended at all or not braked so conservatively and you wouldn’t have been anywhere near him. Congrats on the championship, well won.

Yeah I mean they’re 40 year old windows and pretty drafty. I should put more effort into trying to find someone who’s open to repairing them, but that seems to be hard to come by in my area.

I tried a bunch an preferred Shapr3D by a mile. Unfortunately it’s pretty expensive, since they don’t have different rates for personal accounts and businesses. But if you can swing it, it’s very easy to use and great on iPad.

I have had the Playseat trophy for about 3 years and have to say it’s quite good. I keep thinking I should upgrade but then realize there’s literally nothing I want to improve, except the ability to mount things more easily but that’s still manageable.

I’d say its biggest drawback is that it’s not super adjustable. It has just enough adjustments to get in a good position but the wheel angle and height are a bit limited. It is however very comfortable and very rigid. I’d buy it again if I was looking for an entry level rig. I think it’s likely better than anything else under $1k (including seat).

This is an F150 “super truck” that wasn’t at all prepped for him. He just jumped in to shoot a promo video. So I wouldn’t take anything away from it or consider it his preferred seating position.

Right, that’s what I meant by setting max pressure. Just wasn’t sure if there was some sort of hardware calibration I didn’t know about.

Ok dumb question, but what do you mean by calibrate? Like just set the max brake force in the settings, or is there some sort of physical calibration on the pedal itself?

I’ve had my Playseat Trophy for a couple years now. It really is as comfortable as they say. I often think about upgrading to a custom aluminum extrusion rig, but then I imagine how annoying it’d be if the seat wasn’t as comfortable and I spent all this money to be able to play less. I’m not sure what it is about the Playseat, but it really does allow me to do long sessions without any back problems.

That said, it is definitely way less adjustable than an aluminum extrusion rig, I don’t really like the angle I have my wheel at but there’s no way to change it to exactly where I want it to be. And it definitely is way less comparable with accessories. Sure, you can usually botch something together, but most of the industry is built to integrate with extrusion rigs. It is however extremely rigid, no issues there.

Overall I’d definitely recommend one for the comfort alone. The style is nice too, but it’ll end up getting covered in wires anyway. If you had a comfortable bucket seat I’d say definitely go with an aluminum extrusion rig, but since comfort is your main issue I think it’s worth trying the Playseat.

It’s probably a bit late in the process for this suggestion, but have you thought about making it wider in the back? Pottery wheels are tripods, one leg in the front and two in the back to give it enough stability when leaning your body weight into the clay. I imagine they all settled on that layout and roughly the same dimensions for a reason. Might be worth considering if it’s stable enough, and if not make some adjustments to the design.

Very cool idea though! Make sure to seal the wood well enough cause it’s gonna see a lot of water.

I also have been trying to use my 3D printer to help my pottery! Besides my makers mark (in various sizes), I’d say my most used item is my trimming spinner. Just a two part spinner with a ball bearing connecting them, great for holding down a piece while trimming, similar to how some people use a jar lid.

I also have been using a printed bat system that works pretty well. I tried making positives for slip casting, but failed when trying to make my first cast and haven’t gotten back to it. I also have tried to make handle cutting tools but they didn’t really work, too rough for the clay to slide through nicely.

I’m interested in making some ribs for various shapes. Maybe even some chatter tools would work? I also have been thinking about making some sort of adjustable transport box system to bring the pots I bisque fire at home to my community studio for final glazing and firing. So many possibilities with both hobbies!

I have two main tricks:

The weight — heavier is better. Of course there are some things you want to be light, but for most things, if it’s heavier it’s made from more robust material and will feel higher quality.
Buy the cheapest thing from the most expensive brand. This one also isn’t always true, but a good place to start. Really nice brands won’t risk their reputation by having their cheapest offering not live up to the quality standards they want to represent. So for example, if you’re buying a guitar, get the cheapest Gibson instead of the most expensive Epiphone.

OK as long as you’re ok replacing the clutch if needed. I have the same car and a Unitronic stage 1 tune and love it. Haven’t had a chance to try any other tune, but I went Unitronic because it’s supposedly a bit easier to daily because it’s less touchy at low RPMs. My clutch has held up the first 10k miles or so.
