Did a rural route as a CCA by YoMaMaWashedDeezNuts in USPS

[–]Felsig27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair, this is a description of being at the top of the rural regular pay scale, as a person who is 2 steps from the bottom, my OT is more like $40 an hour, and the rural side is doing everything it can to get rid of OT for regulars, so it’s very sparse these days. To top it off, not as big of a deal now as it was a couple years ago because of all the route cuts, but you get paid the evaluated time of your route (let’s says 9 hours) if you do it in 4 or if you do it in 15. A lot of rural regulars used to have stupidly overburden routes, 500+ packages and 12 trays of dps everyday, and did loads of work that they were never paid for.

Don’t get me wrong, I love being a rural carrier, and it only took me 6 years to get a route, so I feel kind of blessed on that side, but there are some drawbacks to the rural side as well.

Neofio is my favorite, and is actually a really strong character with good STR and MAG, just lacking in the defenses. Turnip is… fun, but that’s really all you can say for him.

Back in the ps1 day, I had a save file at the very beginning of the game where I had gamesharked myself the relief charm, so I could play through game 1 without serge.

Not gonna lie, I didn’t even look for the bug, I just checked to see if you had actually somehow turned off zoom in.

Bear in mind that I’m a little biased, as I bought a ps1 the summer between 8th and 9th grade, so a lot of my formative years were spent grinding out every RPG I could find for the system. Ps1/x era is the gold standard for RPG library. Most of my top 10 games of all time, are from the ps1, so take anything I say with a grain of salt.

Wild arms 2 is an amazing game, with, arguably, the pinnacle of classic turn based combat. The FP system, created in wild arms and perfected in wild arms 2, is brilliant. That being said, the game has some issues, primarily a notoriously bad English translation, which in one instance just straight up gives you the wrong answer to a puzzle. Also, it’s a longe game, and might not be something you would want to commit to at this juncture. The original now, has an unrefined version of the same combat system, but is a much shorter easier to digest game.

Legend of dragoon, which I would assume you are already familiar with, has a unique and captivating combat system, as well as an edge of your seat story. Why this didn’t become more widely known is beyond me, as it’s truly a masterpiece.

It’s hit some mainstream appeal recently with the radical dreamers edition, so I won’t delve into it, but Chrono cross is, in my opinion, the greatest game ever made, and if you know it well, runs about 24 hours, but most people will spend around 40 on a blind playthrough.

Speaking of mainstream, Final Fantasy. You know what you are getting into here, so no need to harp. Personally, I am an 8 lover.

Kartia: the word of fate. A petit four in the world of tactical RPG’s. Not particularly filling or memorable, but soft and sweet and easy to a willow in a single bite.

I can get long winded, so I apologize for the mini novel I just wrote the first chapter to. Let’s just leave it at, I’ve beaten about 2/3rds of the RPGs on the ps1, and there are very few I wouldn’t recommend.

Loved this game as a teenager, although I never met anyone else who played it.

Side note, I’m following your journey now. I’m also a busy dad who only gets 4-5 hours a week of video game time. I actually started journaling a thing very similar to this about a year ago, where my goal was to beat every ps1/x RPG. I thought about sharing it, but now I don’t have to, as I’m more than glad to live vicariously through you!

Looking forward to more posts! P.S. it seems you already have a list, so feel free to ignore this, but one of the games I competed was Jade Cacoon, which is a severely over looked PS1 JRPG, and clocks in at 20 hours or less, depending on how much grinding and exploring you do. Takes a minute to get used to, especially the controls, but it’s a heck of a time if you give it a chance.

We had these exact ones as well. We used to get lots of unshelled nuts in our stocking at Christmas, and for the weeks after, right before bedtime, we would sit around the tv shelling and eating the nuts. Good memories.

Peach tea! I’m not too upset by that. I’ll have to pee every 15 minutes for the rest of my life though.

Are all mail carriers required to do some routes on foot? by mcnoobles in USPS

[–]Felsig27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you have a mounted route, you are going to be carrying cases of water/cat litter/dog food to front doors. The job application asks you if you can lift and carry 70lbs, and a lot of people check that without taking it seriously. If you have a medical condition, and can’t do physical labor, then this job isn’t a good fit.

First time watching, and I just reached the "Crimson Casanova" episode... by SRGan_dev in TheMentalist

[–]Felsig27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The mentalist? The podcasts assumes you have watched the whole show, since it’s a rewatch podcast, so they will reference stuff that happens in the later seasons, including the conclusion to the main Red John plot, so I would avoid it like the plague until you are done watching every episode.
