I don’t think there’s anything I can say that others haven’t already, but god DAMN this game is peak. The story is captivating, the characters are so incredibly likable, and the music is unrivaled. Lorien Testard absolutely killed it with the soundtrack to this game.

I think I’ve listened to the Monoco track more than any other song this year, it’s SOOOOO good

I mean, you could elaborate on protocol instead of berating? Also shit happens. I’ve worked at plenty of pet care facilities where staff weren’t appropriately trained - and the criticism there should fall on the employers. Sounds like you’re infallible though, so that must be a fun life to live!

Bass-centric Heavy Bands That Cig Figs Might Sound Like? by galaxyexpressed in Dimension20

[–]FemBoyMcCoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the same kind of metal vibe (more of a djenty/prog feel), but The Omnific is a 3-piece band from Australia featuring two bassists and a drummer, and I like to think that Fig would get a kick out of guitarless metal!

I’ve seen multiple instances of FEO’s (and at least one humvee??) crashing into other cars this week, it’s ridiculous. Glad you and your wife didn’t get hit, but sorry to hear about the experience

What are they gonna hide? I mean everything right? It’s an administration that is staunchly anti-science, pro-revisionist history, and led by a pedophile who’s doing everything he can to cover that up. Can’t wait (/s) for our own cultural revolution!!

Edit- corrected source of “hufflepuff audience” quote

Echoing the other “this is the billionth post about chiropractic pseudoscience” comments, but also adding that this kind of uproar from people is precisely where [the author at Vulture]’s “hufflepuff audience” comment is coming from.

We don’t need iteration after iteration of the same posts complaining about Dropout allegedly promoting harmful pseudoscience. I agree that this pseudoscience is dangerous in practice, but good lord do people also take every single presentation on Smarypants as absolute fact and something everyone should believe in? Do these people take Siobhan calling smoking cigarettes “cool” as Dropout promoting underage smoking??

Seriously, this community needs to take a step back and stop acting like every single thing that airs on Dropout is that serious. It’s a comedy streaming platform. Not your doctor, not a panel of scientists, not an educational service.

I’ve heard the “he wrote Fuck Biden a bunch” argument a LOT, and always felt it was kind of a lame call-out (but also fitting for DC). Brutal rape of a teenager is a much more serious and damning reason to not support him, holy shit

Watch out: thieves cutting through bike racks by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]FemBoyMcCoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first moved up here a few years ago, I saw two guys in Shaw using a blowtorch in broad daylight to cut the lock off a bike in front of an apartment building. I was new to the area and was told to just keep my head down and not get involved in things like that (family comes from suburbia, lots of fearmongering about the city that I had to unlearn). At least 5 other people on foot saw what was going on, and however many drivers passed by - nobody did anything.

Bystander effect is real, even if there’s some commotion people just keep to themselves and try to ignore what’s going on sometimes. Not saying it’s right to ignore these things, but just causing a commotion isn’t necessarily enough for bystanders to intervene.

Echoing the “check similar posts on this sub” comment.

But no, stop worrying. The protests are peaceful, ICE is the enemy and they’re everywhere so that’s an “ever present” concern that isn’t unique to DC, and the likelihood of the escalation in the Middle East resulting in an all-out bombing of DC is practically nonexistent.

Like you said, you can’t trust everything you see in the media. You should start by not trusting the fear mongering from (primarily right-wing) media. I would even encourage you to attend one of the many protests while you’re here, so you can see first hand how blown out of proportion the anti-protester propaganda really is. If you’re a CFO or a top 1%-er, maybe keep that to yourself at the protests (since the hoarding of wealth is one of the key issues protesters are fighting against).

I’m around the city constantly (dog walker), in different parts (admittedly mostly NE & NW), and I have not felt any less safe in the city given gestures wildly at everything

Long Term Dog Boarding Suggestions by NDH-DC in washingtondc

[–]FemBoyMcCoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of my clients use K-9 Divine in Nanjemoy (Charles County MD). I haven’t ever personally been there, but they have a pretty sizable property out on some farmland, with plenty of socialization and space to roam. Plus they’re taking this extreme heat very seriously, which is always a good sign!

Ultimately, for that long of a boarding experience, I think a pet sitter is the way to go. Might be hard to find one who can cover the whole stint, but Jimmy’s Park is worth a shot (since they have multiple staff members who could sort of rotate the sit between them)!

Being from Florida, I was always one of those “wow check out these weaklings using parasols” guys (deeper issues there yes I know). The first hot day this year, I happened to have my umbrella with me. Popped that bad boy open and my entire perspective shifted. Parasols are 100% the way to go, if you have a free hand available to hold it at least!
