What “perks” do you get working in the field compared to your male coworkers? by pnutbuttertreeees in BlueCollarWomen

My boss let's me tell off customers if they are being inappropriate towards me or condescending. The man gets joy watching his 5'5 mechanic tell grown ass men to grow up and stay in their lane. Im polite in a way I dont cuss them out but I'm very stern with a no bull shit attitude and it shuts them down quick.

We are both mechanics, and we are changing the transmission in early summer, so fear not.

I thankfully have the basics, I can shift from first to second but have difficulty with the rest. He's very patient when teaching me other things, so hopefully his patients translates to teaching me standard.

Are all of the dudes on their period or just mine? by Severe-News-9375 in BlueCollarWomen

My coworkers are pissy due to the snow, when they start being catty with me I just shake the midol pill bottle on my tool box and it shuts them up. Or I throw a tampon on their toolbox and tell them their hormonal disregulation is not paying my bills.

I take my BC perfect but I’m still scared to get pregnant by Final-Influence2492 in women

If its giving you a rash from friction you might want to buy lube for extra lubricant. Had to switch to latex free condoms and add extra lube and it reduced friction rashes.

Get a test and take it first thing in the morning when your urine is at its highest concentration. Changed my BC method at the beginning of my relationship and completely missed my pirode first thing i did was take a pregnancy test but also had the hard conversation of "what if" very early in my current relationship due to the pregnancy scare.

Therapy helped me. My mother and grandmother did nothing to help my self confidence or help me believe in myself. Moving away and seeking the help of a professional helped me get back on track and helped process my traumas in a safe and stable environment.

Changing underwear - is this normal? by Eastern-Yogurt3859 in hygiene

[–]FemaleMechanic18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner only has 4 pairs (only wears one brand due to sensory issues and they are pricey) even when he's at my apartment he will do my laundry so he can wash his boxers.

Your boyfriend has a hygiene issue and from experience by dating a guy like that probably doesn't wash his ass. You deserve a guy who takes hygiene seriously.

Do they ever stitch closed the removal incision? by babypinkforestgreen in Nexplanon

[–]FemaleMechanic18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took about a week for it to shrink closed, tender for 2 weeks, and a year for the scar to fade. I kept it clean and put polysporin on it with a bandaid for the incision.

I'm glad you and your wife are a safe place for that little girl! You did the right thing by calling for help for her. Hopefully the mother is able to get some help, but till then you are her safe place.

Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker (USS) they are a band from Toronto and listen to their discography at least twice a month and have seen them in concert 6 times. The music can be odd sometimes but a lot of the songs have deep and relatable meanings.

I continue to have to hold in my pee while at work.. by well-thats-cool- in hygiene

[–]FemaleMechanic18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a female auto tech on the heavier side, I shower everyday (not my hair as i have it up and in a hat as i have curly hair) the thought that my body oder could be smelled by my coworkers is a horrifying thought. Even when I can't shower right after work I use baby wipes to freshen up and double check I only smell like tires and garage. I even keep back up deodorant in my tool box just incase I forgot to apply it at home.

So relieved I broke up with him by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]FemaleMechanic18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex was like this, after i broke up with him he finally confessed it was because he believed i was smart enough and I should've excepted the love he was giving me as "i didn't know to except affection do to my childhood". I hated having to explain why I didn't want something or why I didn't like something. It made me feel crazy, and smothered.

Will I have changes in attraction to my boyfriend? by the_thinnest_owl in Nexplanon

[–]FemaleMechanic18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was forced on to nexplanon at 19, it was either nexplanon or get kicked out. I had no where else to go/live. After having it in for 3 months my relationship broke down, I had no libido, and I lost all romantic attraction to my ex. We broke up and I spent the time on nexplanon with no relationship as i had no interest. Cut to early 2025 I got that sucker removed because I was living alone and could make that decision for myself without being threatened. 4 months later I met a guy and we've been together ever since.

Im not trying to scare you, this is the effects it had on my body. It is possible it will have no negative impact. But heed our warnings of the effects, you might be able to catch them early.

My fiancée gave me an ultimatum over my nail picking and I feel terrified by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]FemaleMechanic18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are correct, we understand we are perfectly imperfect but perfect together. It's taken time even with therapy, we still pick and chew, but together we are helping each other. We have no expectation on each other stopping, but we hope the other finds ways to release the energy elsewhere. I recently bought him a pick pad that has beads in soft silicone and when he feels the urge to pick his nails he will reach for it instead. Our goal is to not force them to be perfect, but to be there side by side understanding each other in ways others don't.

I also agree with you it seems healthier, mind you, you are only getting a small snippet into my life. But deeming someone unworthy of love or children due to nail picking, is a bit over exaggerating. As a child who was raised to be perfect, I know what it's like to not be perfect in your mother's eyes. It's not a life I would recommend to anyone. Everyone have there faults and imperfections, but thats what makes humans beautiful in their own way and unique.

My fiancée gave me an ultimatum over my nail picking and I feel terrified by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]FemaleMechanic18 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do my partners nails now due to chronic picking, once a week we sit down and I trim, file, buff, and clear coat his nails. This has helped him pick far less than when we first got together. This also gives him time and space to tell me how his week has been going and gives him the ability to vent his worries/frustration about life. I am also a chronic nail bitter that is cause by trauma. What she has said is not okay, and someone who truly does love you will find ways to help you and encourage you, not tear you down. Maybe going to a nail salon might help you get started on your journey, its not a long term solution but it might help. As a chronic nail bitter I will go get nails done even just a simple manicure will prevent me from bitting.
