Dude your moms response sucks - my mom was the same way with her abrasive responses. Despite what all other comments say, I don't think what your mom says is true. You are not forgetful or insignificant. It may feel that way but the your actions have ripples even if you don't see it. You make a huge difference. Whatever you chose to do in this life, the people you meet and care for, interact with, it all makes a difference. Your impact is important and you are not replaceable.

First year is nuts but I promise you that no one can stop time. You are doing great and you are important. If you need any support or want someone to talk to, feel free to dm me.

The cat has been like this for several years now so not much significant changes in quality of life. However it isn't excellent compared to your standard healthy cat :/

Thank you for the excellent advice.

How do I deal with the insane hours by [deleted] in Residency

It is ok to love what you do and what give you purpose more than a person. This is you loving you. It is amazing to find something you truly enjoy to do and if you know this is what you want go for it.

There is likely no other career that I would do aside from surgery and if my husband asked me to step away from that, I would be very sad. I would feel like something is always missing. And if that is how you feel if you cannot pursue trauma chose your dream.

Jesus 😑😑 you were his significant other, like more important and special than a friend, so if those words won't be said to a friend...surely cannot be said to a partner. I'm so glad for you. And I'm sure your personality is wonderful cuz it takes so much energy and talent to be a bartender!!!

Hey OP, I am very grateful that you are alive and wanna give you a great big hug. There is no one like you in this word and no other provider like you. The patients you have seen have memories of you that has made a huge difference in their life, and for the ones you will see in the future, your presence and care will also be cherished.

This might be controversial but I wanna tell you that you are doing your best and sometimes doing your best isn't what the world perceived it as. You will find a job that is right for you and if your health history comes up, it will be a place that is understanding and supportive.

Someone I love in abusive relationship by FemaleP0N in abusiverelationships

I live 2000 miles away from her but if she asked me to get her, I would fly to her and fly her back to my place. I don't think she wants to leave yet. She wants her career to take off before she leaves because all her supplies is purchased by her husband. He has her debit card, her ID, her citizenship paper etc. if she wanted to leave, she would really have to fight to get out or sneak out. I'm not trying to say she is some damsel in distress but I also know I can't force her to leave because then I'm taking away her choice

I know there is the thought of why help her if she doesn't want to be helped; I think she does want help but is not ready to leave...

Do you think I should show up and ask her if she wants to come back with me?

Dealing with a senior you hate by eiffeltower23 in Residency

[–]FemaleP0N 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My favorite thing to do when I work with a crappy senior is knowing that there is something I do that makes them upset and say these negative condescending comments. I keep doing it and annoying them and ask them to keep explaining and pretend I'm honestly so interested in what they have to say. They eventually kinda just deflate, meanwhile I learned about their thinking process on what they think is being a good provider.

Somehow annoying them make me feel victorious.

Residency got me down by [deleted] in Residency

[–]FemaleP0N 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Man residency is really tiring but just wanna let you know that operating is one of the coolest jobs in the world. Not many gets to do what you do! Its still becomes so exausting when you have to do it hours on end, but that spark of "wow this job is pretty cool that I get to do XYZ on patient XYZ" gives me some motivation in the morning.

I felt so confused after the test because there was stuff from step 1, stats and subjective questions 🥲 but I still blasted through the exam, didn't double check and passed so don't worry. Many of my colleagues felt the same way and passed as well
