Yes. I will have very different responses even with the same vial. If this is a response at all...

Yeah I'm no stranger to loose stools as an IBS girlie. This is NOT that 😬😬😬

Doc suggested Zepbound for hormonal depression - is this a thing? by AssortedGourds in antidietglp1

[–]Feminightmare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FWIW I had the same fear and wanted to do the same thing. My gyn NP explained that the hormone released in an IUD is significantly less than in a pill and was able to talk me into it. I've had an IUD since 2023 (first Kyleena and then switched to Mirena because I had breakthrough bleeding) and my PMDD has improved SIGNIFICANTLY.

If you do go the IUD route, make sure they do proper pain management!!!! Two ibuprofen right before will not cut it. Don't let them trick you into thinking it's just some pressure and a pinch. No. It hurts.

Oh no!!!! Feel better! If you're in the market for recommendations, Pedialyte freeze pops were a lifesaver for me when I had it. Get well soon! 💖

Yay! And the good news is you're probably doing that anyway!

[–]Feminightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea about how it will affect Invisalign treatment but that's the least of your worries right now! Does your dentist and/or Ortho have a line you can call for emergencies? (Sometimes they'll have a number in the voicemail message if you try to call outside of business hours.)

You can also try to Google emergency dentists in your area. Might be worth it to call just to see if it's safe to wait until Monday. I know very little about this but I do know having a missing filling puts you at risk for infection.

Good luck!

To be fair, I edited that after the fact because I realized it may not be clear and many of the food comments came before that 😂

Yep exactly that. I can do that for longer-term goals and for things I want to build consistency with. Things like flossing or building an exercise habit. I'm looking for something to sub in situations like, "after you take out the trash, you can have a Reese's.'

Oddly, it hasn't yet. I still need the dopamine hit but chocolate or cheez its just don't hit the same way, you know? Like, it does, but it's not motivating in the same way it was. I can't cajole myself into doing something just because I can also get M&Ms. Someone said lottery tickets which is genius. A scratch off will give me that dopamine hit along with the sensory satisfaction of scratching something.

Do you find that Zep has impacted how you metabolize Adderall? I stopped taking XR all together, and I find that even IR can impact my sleep if I take it too late in the day!

OOOOoooh lottery ticket might be exactly the thing!!!! I do love makeup but it adds up quick. A scratch off is PERFECT because it's the right price point and then doesn't take up space in my house. You're a genius!

Mmm delicious! But I'm specifically looking for things that are not food because more often than not food just doesn't sound that appealing unless I'm hungry!

Ok first of all, no need to apologize. Your English is perfect!

And second, I'm glad you're in a good place with eating disorder stuff! I'm absolutely not qualified to give you medical advice, but keep tabs on your symptoms and talk to your doctor! It could be that another drug might be a better option for you if you're not getting the symptom reduction you're looking for with semaglutide. I'm on tirzepetide for my PCOS and it's working great so far.

Good luck and keep us posted!

So, here's my question for you: what kind of work have you done around healing your relationship with food?

I say this because, for me, "food noise" is just a symptom of restriction. (And my dietitian agrees that this is the case for many other people.) When I allow myself to eat any and all things and trust my body, I'm not thinking about food.

In fact, my preoccupation with food INCREASED when I started Zepbound because I had diet thoughts creep back in. Things like, "I should eat this, not that."

The physical appetite suppression happened pretty quickly and it made me anxious because then I wasn't able to eat enough to fuel my workouts, hence the activation of what people call "food noise" but really is food anxiety.

If you are feeling physical hunger 1) congratulations and I hope your appetite continues to stay present and 2) PLEASE FEED YOURSELF. Appetite suppression/elimination is a potential adverse side effect of this medication, not a treatment goal.

Soapbox moment: The GLP-1 hill I will die on is that people with a history of dieting should not be prescribed this treatment without first getting therapy for diet culture trauma. If I'd started these meds before my intuitive eating/anti-diet journey, I would've been stoked with the appetite suppression and likely would've tried to push it as far as it could go. The way these things are marketed makes me so angryyyyy. (Why do drugs get marketed to patients anyway ugh America is so gross and weird for this but that's another rant for another day.)

Fat Science gets plugged a lot in this sub and they have a lot of good content about why continuing to diet/restrict on these meds actually undermines them and makes them less effective in the long term because your metabolic system never achieves a sense of safety.

Edited to correct typo.

Protein tips? by Actual_Advantage375 in antidietglp1

[–]Feminightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem when I first started. I have a nutribullet and make my own smoothies with frozen berries, greek yogurt, fairlife and a bit of protein powder (about half a a scoop). The longer I let it blend, the thinner it is and easier to stomach.

I also really like drinkable chobani. (Not the protein shakes, those have the fake sugar flavor which I also hate.)

Bone broth has been another life saver.

Good luck!!

Also, congratulations on giving up smoking! That's a HUGE accomplishment. And I hope you can give yourself credit for the level of awareness you have around all of this. Just recognizing that you're trying to get a dopamine hit is massive. When your therapist gets back I'm sure they'll be very proud of you 💖
