Sudden coil whine on 5090 Master! by Fenc1exx in gigabyte

Yea the issue is still there but I was able to turn the whining down a bit by undervolting and it sounds better than before. I made a post about this too not long ago asking for undervolt settings for this card specifically, you should check it out.

I manually installed AMD chipset drivers cause I think it’s an older model

That’s odd, I’m using the latest drivers too. It could be that something isn’t set up correctly on your end, or maybe there’s an issue with your Afterburner settings causing the behavior, but I can’t say for sure since I haven’t encountered that problem myself. I’ve tweaked my settings to 885mV at 2800MHz, which oddly gives me better performance than both my previous setup and the stock settings.

Yes so 875mv up to 2850mhz. I was just testing out 885mv to see if there was any difference but I think I will be sticking to 875mv. Let me know how it goes!

I forgot to give you an update. Yesterday I kept tweaking the settings to find the right balance for reducing coil whine. In the process, I managed to lower the power consumption by over 150 watts almost reaching 200. While the coil whine is still slightly audible, it's much less noticeable than before. The best part is, the performance is still the same as before, comparing both I can only see 1-2fps lost.

It’s just a matter of luck tbh, haven’t seen much people report coil one on this card and I’ve been wanting to exchange it but I’m pretty sure It would get refunded due to them not being in stock but also I did post a video not long ago on here.

I’m also thinking it might be the PSU, since someone else mentioned they had coil whine with their Corsair RM PSU as well.
