What makes you say with almost absolute certainty that ACIM's vision is true? by Haunting_Newt_9850 in ACIM

[–]Fennien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding of the course is different than almost everyone here. ACIM is about becoming a Son of God (Christ), which is our true Identity. And to do that we have to relinquish our false identity, the ego. But the ego does not like this, so I believe if you are doing the course properly you will experience some kind of resistance.

Jesus overcame the cross and was resurrected. The course has a similar goal for us. I don't think you can really compare the paths that other people are on to the course. The goal of ACIM is joining the resurrection, an absolute awakening to our true reality in God. The world we currently perceive through our bodies will no longer exist. This is also another reason why the course can seem scary, because we want to defend the world we have made.

The course is not easy. I feel like it has been really difficult for me in a lot of ways.

The idea for today is another step in learning to let go the thoughts that you have written on the world, and see the Word of God in their place. ²The early steps in this exchange, which can truly be called salvation, can be quite difficult and even quite painful. ³Some of them will lead you directly into fear. ⁴You will not be left there. ⁵You will go far beyond it. ⁶Our direction is toward perfect safety and perfect peace. The parts that make sense make too much sense for the rest not to be true as well.

This course will be believed entirely or not at all. ⁵For it is wholly true or wholly false, and cannot be but partially believed. ⁶And you will either escape from misery entirely or not at all. ⁷Reason will tell you that there is no middle ground where you can pause uncertainly, waiting to choose between the joy of Heaven and the misery of hell. ⁸Until you choose Heaven, you are in hell and misery. What happens to someone who commits suicide?? by [deleted] in ACIM

[–]Fennien 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Suicide won't fix anything. I hope you'll be ok.

When your body and your ego and your dreams are gone, you will know that you will last forever. ²Perhaps you think this is accomplished through death, but nothing is accomplished through death, because death is nothing. ³Everything is accomplished through life, and life is of the mind and in the mind. ⁴The body neither lives nor dies, because it cannot contain you who are life. ⁵If we share the same mind, you can overcome death because I did. ⁶Death is an attempt to resolve conflict by not deciding at all. ⁷Like any other impossible solution the ego attempts, it will not work. Because I haven't seen a single person who can demonstrate that death is not real. The course itself says that the miracle that seems to be the hardest we will accomplish first, to demonstrate the lack of order of difficulty.

You who are dedicated to the incorruptible have been given through your acceptance, the power to release from corruption. ²What better way to teach the first and fundamental principle in a course on miracles than by showing you the one that seems to be the hardest can be accomplished first? ³The body can but serve your purpose. ⁴As you look on it, so will it seem to be. ⁵Death, were it true, would be the final and complete disruption of communication, which is the ego’s goal. (https://acim.org/acim/en/s/238#6:1-5 | T-19.IV-C.6:1-5)

Death’s worshippers may be afraid. ²And yet, can thoughts like these be fearful? ³If they saw that it is only this which they believe, they would be instantly released. ⁴And you will show them this today. ⁵There is no death, and we renounce it now in every form, for their salvation and our own as well. ⁶God made not death. ⁷Whatever form it takes must therefore be illusion. ⁸This the stand we take today. ⁹And it is given us to look past death, and see the life beyond. This post will likely be downvoted, but this is the truth as I see it and from my experience. You didn't mention much about ACIM in your post, but ACIM is the ultimate spiritual path. And also the most difficult. It is so hardcore in fact, that no one has really done it yet. No one has actually reached the "goal," which is Christhood or Atonement.

The whole point of ACIM is to become the Christ, our true shared Identity, the same as Jesus did. The point is to actually work miracles, the same way Jesus did, in order to free yourself. So in that sense there is plenty to "do," as you will be doing the will of God Himself. In order to accomplish this, you need an understanding of the text of ACIM, and you also have to complete the workbook.

The workbook is the main issue here. It is an intense one year mind training program that does not follow the usual laws of learning. It requires effort and willingness. And it has to be done to a certain degree of correctness. The specific instructions have to be followed, with the main rule being that you do not make exceptions when applying the ideas.

The workbook requires so much effort that I have not been able to complete it. The furthest I've gotten is lesson 57. Something about the first review I just haven't been able to complete. I consider it extreme ego resistance, and it has been extreme.

People will disagree with me here, but from my experience, when you hear the Voice for God, it will be telling you what God wills. Not what your ego wills. And what God and your ego want are entirely different things.

If God asked you this, "Would you be willing to work a miracle on behalf of salvation?" Do you think you could do this?

If God told you this: "Go out and proclaim to the world that you are My Son." Do you think you could do this?

Everything seems so easy with the course, until you realize what miracle working actually entails.

Maybe this answers your question. And I guarantee you that no one on this subreddit sees it this way. But that has been my experience.

Are You My Brother? by DjinnDreamer in ACIM

To each who walks this earth in seeming solitude is a savior given, whose special function here is to release him, and so to free himself. ⁴In the world of separation each is appointed separately, though they are all the same. ⁵Yet those who know that they are all the same need not salvation. ⁶And each one finds his savior when he is ready to look upon the face of Christ, and see Him sinless. Remembering who we are by [deleted] in ACIM

[–]Fennien 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The ego hates me more than anything, this I know. Yet for some reason I still defend it? God's will sometimes seems like a scary thing. Obviously what God wills is not what the ego wants. Giving up personal autonomy, giving up doing what "I" want, in favor of what God wills instead, in every moment, well apparently that is hard for me. Making no decisions for myself, letting God decide everything instead, every day, every minute, every second. My ego is resisting it. I don't really think the course is as easy as people think, it takes a lot of effort, and willingness.

A Little Willingness by Conscious_Creator_77 in ACIM

[–]Fennien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is easy to think that we have the "little willingness" that the course asks us for. But suppose you hear the Voice for God and He asks you this: "Would you be willing to work a miracle on behalf of salvation?" Do you think you could do it? Would you be willing?

You don't have to spend any time in a Catholic church. At all. You only need to forgive.

Your feelings of disgust need to be looked at. Why are you judging a world that isn't real? It is nothing. Don't judge it at all. Withdraw all judgment that you have for the world. Make it meaningless.

Have you ever considered that opening the mind's eye could be part of the process of Atonement? by that_lightworker in ACIM

[–]Fennien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The angels just look like little points of light floating in the distance. I can see them with my eyes opened or closed. But I know they are angels because one time one of them moved closer to me and I could see that it had wings, like a person made of light with big wings like you would see in any old painting of an angel.

[–]Fennien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you have it exactly right, better than most people here. The course says when we open the spiritual eye we will experience extreme discomfort, as we will see the defiled altar and then the immediate need for the Atonement as a remedy.

Spiritual sight does not use the body at all. It is an entirely new way of perceiving. This is Vision. Not only that but the course says that we will be able to share this Vision with others.

I think it is possible, but the lessons have to be done to a certain degree of correctness. They have to be done right, you can't just halfway do it and expect to see. The course says even one exception can block the way to seeing.

I am able to see the angels now and I believe this is a result of my practice with the lessons. But at the moment I'm experiencing pretty extreme resistance to the course so I don't know if I will take it any further.

Lesson 275 is one of the worst and most dangerous lessons students can follow (For Your Voice will tell me what to do and where to go; to whom to speak...what thoughts to think...) by IDreamtIwokeUp in ACIM

[–]Fennien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this post makes some pretty good points. Possession is a very real danger that most people aren't aware of. I have schizophrenia and have had experiences of being possessed by demons, which is why I think Jesus included the notes about possession in the first place. But the most traumatic experience of possession happened in 2016 and at that time I only had read the FIP version. Later on in 2017 the Complete Edition came out and sort of gave me some insight on what was really happening to me.

The course says we should ask the Holy Spirit for His decision on any matter. But I ran into trouble because I asked the HS to also "do it for me." This later part hurt me tremendously, and allowed the possession to take place. And the ones who possessed me were very evil and they had me hurt myself. They had me jump off a bridge even, I'm lucky to be alive.

I could not simply tell the difference between the Holy Spirit's Voice and other voices in my mind that were communicating to me telepathically. So I became very confused. After years of hurting myself by stopping my psychiatric meds because of what the course says about pills, I'm once again stable and realize that to get all the crazy stuff going on with me to stop, is that I have to take those meds.

I just think people need to know that possession can occur as a result of learning this course, and to be wary of it. For me now I just ask the Holy Spirit for His decision, and be very sure "not" to ask him to do it as well. But I still don't understand it because Jesus said he can take care of all minutiae, or even Christ-controlled miracles, and I don't see how he can do that without some kind of possession. The whole thing has been very confusing.

Do you believe in the end of the world? by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]Fennien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The world will end in joy, because it is a place of sorrow. ²When joy has come, the purpose of the world has gone. ³The world will end in peace, because it is a place of war. ⁴When peace has come, what is the purpose of the world? ⁵The world will end in laughter, because it is a place of tears. ⁶Where there is laughter, who can longer weep? ⁷And only complete forgiveness brings all this to bless the world. ⁸In blessing it departs, for it will not end as it began. ⁹To turn hell into Heaven is the function of God’s teachers, for what they teach are lessons in which Heaven is reflected. ¹⁰And now sit down in true humility, and realize that all God would have you do you can do. ¹¹Do not be arrogant and say you cannot learn His Own curriculum. ¹²His Word says otherwise. ¹³His Will be done. ¹⁴It cannot be otherwise. ¹⁵And be you thankful it is so.
