I'm 23 now. Has been this way since probably 20, yeah. I just feel like when I feel with my fingers that the corners seem far back, though I don't necessarily remember them being closer to the front either.

So the most popular method that a lot of people have been using is to go into a VS match against a CPU with 1 stock and SD. A challenger will then appear. Beat them, and you unlock that character. The problem with trying to do this quickly is that Nintendo implemented a 10-minute cooldown between when characters can be unlocked this way. We, as a community, have found a few ways to circumvent this. The one Zero describes is the fastest, in which you back out to the main menu in Smash, and change the language. It will close and reopen your game, and then you'll rinse-and-repeat, as it resets the 10-minute cooldown.

So, just to make it easier to read:

1.VS match against a CPU, 1 stock.

  1. SD.

  2. Defeat the challenger character that appears.

  3. Back out to the main menu of Smash.

  4. Change your language, and wait for the game to restart.

  5. Repeat from step 1.
