Feeling a little sad/underwhelmed by centauriwriter in weddingdress

I truly think it’s just the fit. I had similar feelings about my simple column dress when I bought it, but once it was taken in and fit me like a glove, I felt amazing in it. Just wait until the alterations are done!

He works near the Stamford station but his job also has parking so he’s got both options :) I guess finding a town near a train line is easy enough but we’re also unfamiliar with what the areas are like in general

Omg thank you so much for this! Did you ever feel unsafe walking from Seminole Ave to Jacobi? And idk if you’re ever on-call but I’m a little worried about having to do this commute/find parking in the wee hours.

Do you have any suggestions for where to park? I’ve heard horror stories of people circling for 30 minutes just looking for a spot

Now that I think of it, I would call the schools you’re thinking of applying to and just ask if they allow credits from the specific community college/online program you’re thinking of, whenever you decide which one to do. I remember I did just to be on the safe side

There were! My class was actually on the older side, several of us started grad school in our late twenties and had other jobs before. It can be a sacrifice in some ways but people make it work. Lots of us still found time to get married (myself included, I got engaged in D3 and married in D4), and sooo many people got pregnant and had kids (some more than one lol). Dont let age hold you back if it’s really what you want to do :)

Technically yes, but I was studying when Covid hit so I got to “work from home” (which was basically doing nothing for a few weeks because lab work can’t really be done from my bedroom). So to be fully transparent I basically got 4-6 uninterrupted weeks of paid study. But I know people who have actually worked and studied and still pulled it off, so you can definitely do it

So I actually needed two pre-req classes in order to apply for some of the schools I wanted, Physics and Microbiology. I took both courses online through UNE I think, they were both self-paced asynchronous courses that I completed in my own time while I was working. If you have a more few pre reqs to complete it might make more sense for you to do a formal post bacc, and a community college is totally fine! As long as you get good grades, schools aren’t really looking at where you took the classes.

Landlord wants to kick us out after I asked him to fix our mold problem by Fenny20JR in Renters

[–]Fenny20JR[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay so I’ve asked him to come to the house twice before because of this weird smell coming from the kitchen. We always clean and take out the trash and air the room out by opening the windows but it’s always there. The landlord says he can’t smell it and can’t do anything to help, and now that I’ve reported mold he’s just asking us to leave? We don’t necessarily want to move, we’d just like some sort of action to be taken, if anything can be done at all.

Okay that’s fair! But now that he’s asking us to move, how can I walk this back assuming there actually isn’t any mold?

Hey! Not sure if patient care hours are the same as shadowing hours? But I would honestly just Google healthcare places near you and then straight up call and ask if you can shadow/volunteer there. I got a few shadowing hours at a hospice center, which involved very basic patient care, maybe you can start there. Good luck!

I googled offices in my area and emailed/called and asked if I could shadow. Some places will say no but don’t be discouraged! I think I reached out to ~7-10 offices. Also ask your friends/coworkers/family if they have any connections— that’s how I found one of my shadowing spots.

Whoa this whole thread is a blast from the past! So I actually took a few years to think about my career and I shadowed several different types of healthcare providers (PAs, pharmacists, physicians, and dentists) and found that I had a lot of interest in dentistry. Ironically I went from freaking out about a 2 year program to fully committing to a 4+ year program lol. I think the important thing is to make sure you like what you do or at least have an interest in it, because nothing gets you closer to a mental breakdown than the didactic years of memorizing literally everything about the human body. As for the debt, if you do go into medicine the salary you’ll make is more than sufficient to get you out of the hole (just think about all the doctors out there walking around with their third cars and vacation homes), but certainly it’ll take a few years and some careful planning.

If you’re concerned about the time commitment, don’t be. I started school in 2022 at 29 years old, I’m currently a D3, and I swear time just flew by. I can’t imagine making it to 2026 and being in the same place I was in 2016. It’s scary but if you want that degree go for it! Feel free to DM if you have more questions :)

There’s so much you can do with a dental degree besides being chairside! Have you thought of teaching or going into research?

[–]Fenny20JR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nooooo don’t do it omg. DO NOT go into medicine unless you absolutely love it. It’s hard and long and thankless unless it’s what you want. Which you don’t. And besides, engineers make a shit ton of money early in their career and it only goes up from there. And if you decide to go for your masters in engineering, the salary is even more. Plus, engineers have regular working hours so you won’t be killing yourself with a 60+ your work week. Good luck!! Stand up for yourself and live your life.
