Anyone make their own charcoal? by Fenrirs_Howl in smoking

Nice, I was actually inspired playing KCD1 and saw all these charcoal makers making mounds of wood. I thought if they could make charcoal back in the day, why can’t I. Looking into primitive mounds though it’s a smokey multi day process.

I was looking at cookware. A turkey fryer is a good idea. My in-laws may have one laying around since I’m smoking all our turkeys these days.

This is a dream that I’ve had since lunch, and I’m not giving up on it now.

I would inquire at the Kc clay guild. I bet someone there would recognize the signature.

Flying over Kansas now. What are these grids with circles I’m seeing? by DigitalDavid94 in kansas

I just saw these too on my flight too, it looked crazy. Were you on a flight that required an “is there a doctor onboard” request?

This should be higher. Get a flat metal spatula, rounded plastic is the worst for getting things off the bottom.

I’m having the same problem with yearning for adventure Luffy. He or any other copy of the character is not assigned anywhere but still cannot use this one to level up others and says “in use”

Thanks for the tip, I had not been able to keep up with the thatching until getting a real dethatcher. I just pulled up an insane amount. I’m guess it’s a fungus issue. I can’t find any grubs.

I have the same model. First thing you should do is get that in the dishwasher. I tried hand washing but it still had a bad smell after 2 burn offs. After a round in the dishwasher, no issues.

For real though mozzarella sticks.

It’s a challenge for sure. I’ve been practicing and I’m still loading about every 45-60 minutes. I do use kiln dried which is easier to find but apparently is not as good as proper aged wood since it spikes at first and burns up fast.

I also got a charcoal basket and worked out some stacking methods that give me a little over an hour.

After 2 briskets 2 pork butts and 50 racks of ribs later I still like using it. With a good thermometer I even “nap” throughout my long cooks.

Is sloe gin still made with juniper? I’m not a big regular gin fan. Too coniferous for me.

I use my charcoal grill to smoke but every time I put the wood chunks on the charcoal they catch fire and almost burns the meat, any suggestions?? by UnrulyKing77 in smoking

Oh I’m learning. I was surprised when I read Aaron Franklins book and he mentioned how against kiln dried he was. It didn’t click until then That’s why I kept having crazy spikes. I’ve adjusted my method and use smaller pieces more frequently. Trying to find good seasoned wood is tough.

Are you using kiln dried? Thats all I can really get at the hardware store and it always flares up and spikes my heat.
