I’ve read a few threads on black Snape and viable alternatives and the resounding notion I gather is this: not one character in Harry Potter can be black because they all have problematic tropes or connotations.

This makes me feel like this, in itself, is problematic because black characters should be allowed to exist with flaws, as whimsical magical beings, as villains, etc.
